I have met one person that I "met" online (another forum I used to belong to). Flew to England to meet this person, too. My first time in England. It was great, had an awesome time. I'd definitely do it again. There's quite a few people here at HDC that I'd like to meet.

Hmmm but I guess MM would have worked too if Jenn would have looked at this thread.(thanks for pointing that out austin)

I wouldn't mind meeting some people from the internet. I would like to meet some people here. :) They seem pretty cool.

Vodstok 07-31-2009 08:54 AM

I was introduced to my wife online, first spoke with her online, did the whole trading pictures thing. Been together 7 years on Tuesday, married 5 in October.

newb 07-31-2009 08:54 AM

Just kidding, it's a tough thing to do but like Austin said, you're just as likely (if not more likely) to run into a bad egg at the bar. I will be at the horror con next year (getting my enhanced DL in Nov.) so get over it.

Doc Faustus 07-31-2009 09:08 AM

Most of the fellow authors I know, I met online before meeting in person. I also hung out with Neverending in Portland. He's very tall and talks like Stan Lee.

Vanilla.exe 07-31-2009 09:15 AM

I've met a bunch of people from the internet. Mostly at cons, but also a lot of stuff from buying/selling on craigslist too. I always bring people with me on that one. My friend met my boyfriend through vampirefreaks, and I met him through her, so that's kinda an online meeting except she did the dangerous part =P

Ferox13 07-31-2009 09:29 AM

First time I went to San Diego met loads of ppl from MMA.tv - there a good community there. Met a few of them when they came over here and 1 stayed with me too...

When I was in LA one of em brought me shooting which was great.

illdojo 07-31-2009 10:02 AM

Personally I've never met any cyber friends....But I would dig going to NZ to meet Elvis and start our punk band and dominate the world. I would also dig going to RI to knock back a bunch of cold ones with Newb.
Meeting the author of this thread wouldn't be a bad deal either. ;)

hey - i carried my damn phone around all weekend so we could meet up !

(i normally turn it off and leave it home on weekends and nights)

roshiq 07-31-2009 10:35 AM

meeting someone online has been an exciting & fun thing for me. Before HDC, I had been a regular member in a Bangla community forum for a long time and there we had a g2g once but the bit sad thing was most of my good friends there already then left the forum...but that was a fun party indeed.

I could be a fat 6'8 man with back hair who joined the site posted on it for 4+ years (oh god...) building trust and I'm just waiting for illdojo to foolishly walk into my trap.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 07-31-2009 02:44 PM

next question, how far have you driven to meet someone? that is the thing that weirds me out a little, I have friends I won't drive 5 hours to see and I hear stories of people flying to england to meet people. am I the only person who thinks that is weird?

like if elvis' band was doing a canadian tour or something, I would 100% get him a gig at THE metal/hardcore/punk bar in Vancouver (you can hold me to that btw) and it would be neat to meet him. however that's a little different than him flying here just to meet me (which would be horribly disappointing for him because even at the bar I might only be able to talk to him for 20 minutes or something.)

Just today my parents were talking about a friend of theirs who drove to Liverpool from my neck of the woods (a good 5/6 hours) to meet someone from the internet. trouble is, she didn't tell anybody she was going. Wow. Smart move when you're meeting someone for the first time across the other side of the country. Dumbass...

I have such a hard time figuring out what people are thinking sometimes...

ferretchucker 07-31-2009 03:23 PM

And so you bash their skulls open in the hopes that you can find out. And that, everybody, is why Murderdoll must move house every three weeks.

Considering the last Canadian bar I went to not only screwed up a Long Island Iced Tea but also a Black & Tan I don't know if I'd trust a bar up there...

If anybody came to the Ann Arbor (or Detroit but... why?) area I'd show em' around a little bit.

_____V_____ 07-31-2009 07:20 PM

Not many would want to meet me.

The trip alone would cost a fortune, plus they got to deal with my half-assed whiny Indian personality.

how was the black and tan screwed up?

I could mail you some lemon bar mix if you want (I don't think you can buy it anywhere) and then you can buy a shaker kit and make better drinks at home than you can at the dives you probably frequent. ;)

newb 07-31-2009 07:39 PM

hmmmm...in the mood for a black & tan now,

I'm on VACATION bitches.....2 fucking weeks.....so expect a lot of really stupid post from me.

yeah......even more stupider than normal.

Lemon bar mix? I may take you up on that, sounds pretty good. As for the black and tan, the idiot just gave me Guinness!

As for dives... ok ya got me, but I frequent some good bars too (this place is awesome btw http://www.downtownmain.com/Downtown...-220-8900.html and I would take any of the upstanding members of HDC to this place... except the young ones, no alcohol for you. Seriously though, check out the martini menu.).

LOL that's hilarious.

that looks like a good place, mmm pan fried scallops.

and lemon bar mix is used in a lot of drinks, look up recipes online and anything that says lemon juice (or sour mix) is actually made with lemon (some cases lime) bar mix. they put lemon juice in the recipes because you can only buy barmix if you own a bar. (that is what I've been told I would think ebay) don't use online recipes though (horrible), ask me please.
