Just for shits and giggles let's see what people now would bring.

If you were stuck on a deserted island and they had a TV and electricity.

tic 10-14-2006 11:25 AM

Robinson Crusoe and Castaway (for survival tips)

Halloween
Jaws (seems appropriate somehow)
King Kong (peter jackson's remake)

Should keep me occupied for a few hours atleast:D

Great list. We've talked about it before, but I love to see someone who loves The Philadelphia Story. Talk about a perfect screenplay...

I don't know, I'd pick some long movie that you could watch over and over and never fully understand. Like Brazil or something.

On second thought, maybe it would be a better idea to take that discovery channel show science of survival

Good call on both! A couple of episodes of "survivorman" would probably be a hell of a lot more usefull than watching someone being chopped to bits.:)

And BRAZIL! shit, I can't believe I left that off my list.

evildemontoo 10-14-2006 05:24 PM

What's Brazil?? Never heard of it.

urgeok 10-14-2006 05:25 PM

terry gilliam film

i dont think i'd bring that one along ..

i'd mainly want to laugh ...some good honest laughs before it quickly became the mad laughter of a lunatic castaway

Terry Gilliam's greatest film. A true cinematic masterpiece of absurdist wit, social satire with an underbelly of something truly sinister.

Rent it immediately but avoid the "Love conquers all" version. It was re-edited by the producer Sid Sheinberg who quite literally hated Gilliam's film and chopped it up into a different (and terrible) film.

and Urge
******spolier*****

it might be perfect for the desert isle thing - it's a flick where the only possible happy ending is escape into madness

urgeok 10-14-2006 05:33 PM

i have the criterion box set - terrys cut.

weird coincydink .. i transported the last of my book collection today (stored at my father in laws) and in the top of one of the boxes was the book : Brazil ... sort of a screenplay book.

re the spoiler ... thats true ... unless you dont have a problem with solitude ..

i could definately do the solitude thing for a couple of weeks a year.

desert island, box of porn, kleenex, and a big bag of cheezies.

evildemontoo 10-14-2006 07:47 PM
