If anybody on this forum deserves it, it’s neverending, THE most levelheaded member here. He has the tenure, the wisdom and believe it or not, the compassion, for what this place is all about. He’s practically a mod anyway, as he’s here practically all the time, and has squelched many problems before they arose. That dedication should not go unrewarded(or punished,depending on your viewpoint).

For my second choice, I would endorse ferretchucker, who I think has many of the qualities of the aforementioned. And quite possibly the brightest kid I’ve met on the internet. I have to admit, fc, your pretty cool for your age, and I don’t dole out compliments often. I would love to see this kid learn the responsibilities of the task(trust me, it's not that demanding, kinda like a beat cop at a donut shop). He’s smart enough, and optimistic enough to do it. Think about the next gen.

And a good Ying/Yang of film philosophy to boot.

If you vote for anyone else, IMO, you are voting for cronyism, chicanery, and a caste system that must be broken at all costs, if this forum is to flourish. And a wasted vote.

Even if he makes us all laugh and is a pretty funny guy, Newb is a pretty impartial and level-headed person when it comes to the board. He is composed (even on Friday nights), he has plenty of knowledge, he's an old fart (!), plus he is one of the oldest and most respected members here. He can prove to be a very useful mod.

I thought on this for a while - I would be prepared offer my "services", if not for the fact that a person in my time zone might be able to handle any problems that arise outside "normal business hours", that and forum moderation was actually part of my most recent job...etc...but, since I feel that this is going to be down to (yet another hdc) popularity contest and since I'm usually the one that the majority don't exactly "like" it'd just not happen, and that's all I'll say on it.


I'd go with newb personally - the guy with 12k+ posts may not think he's got enough time to do it, but I think the figures speak against that.

Moderation of a forum shouldn't really be about friendships, alliances, or even subject matter knowledge IMO - of course these things are nice traits for a forum member of any kind to display, but moderation itself - it's about putting the t&c of the forum first, and being able to impose actions without the need for approval of any members/co-mods, as confidence would be put in this person to be able to make the right decision not subject to bias of any kind, no matter who or what the action had been taken against.
To be completely honest I don't think that many people here would be capable of this at all...
I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks this kind of "election" process is doomed to yield a faulty product - after all, it's your "peers" that elect you...tell me that won't allow for some bias to creep into any moderation actions taken in the future.

Site doesn't really NEED new mods anyways...I mean I'd welcome them but don't consider it a necessary step.

I have to admit that if newb were game, he's one of the most reasonable people on this forum. He's one of the few members that I could confidently say I've never seen let their emotions get out of hand to the point where it clouds their judgement. If he were willing to accept, I would throw all of my votes behind him.

__V__ would make a great mod. He cares more about this place than anyone else, Horror included. If he weren't around, there would be no HDC left to worry over.

There are plenty of other good folks around here who might make good mods. Kemal, if he were around more often. Alky, Return, Despare and many others are all reasonable people who stick by this place through thick and thin.

When I look at all of the factors, my nomination list stands at those:

Come to think - you'd not do a bad job yourself, it's not as though you come across as overly "trying to make friends", and you're pretty straightforward, you visit frequently, speak plainly, and have been here for some time, and you're into some pretty good titles, good for advice on the non-mainstream - maybe look into doing whatever this threads about to see what's up, I'd personally prefer (these days anyway) seeing you in the running than a few of the aforementioned "favourites".

I would enjoy being a moderator here.

I used to try all the time after I was here for about a year but I don't think they were looking at the time. I know lately I haven't been around much but I feel that if I was elected as a mod I could help out a lot around here since I don't work right now and I have a great deal of free time and I enjoy coming here.

I am not sure how others feel since I know more people have more influence with others here so it might be hard to be chosen to be a mod but I would like to be atleast considered if possible.

Dustin would make a great mod too, the ONLY reason I didn't mention him was because he and Rayne seem to disappear into the realm of MMORPGs for months at a time. If you were on the ballot though Dustin, I'd have hard time not voting for you. It's funny, if this thread accomplishes one thing it's to prove how many intelligent and valuable members we really have.

Let's face it guys - who has done more for this place than __V__ and Flayed?

I think there are a lot of members here that could do a great job in a mod position - myself included - but for something like this we have to look at the most deserving. Flayed and __V__ are doubtlessly the 2 members most committed to HDC.

Without them, there would be only one Top 100 list. There would have been no Battle Royale. Far fewer tournaments. No exciting, extracurricular reasons to come here, like the upcoming Encyclopedia project.

There are many of us here that have a deep love for the forum and would do well as a moderator. But none so much as __V__ and Flayed.

I think that goes without saying.

__V__ deserves it most. But, I can see why he might be reluctant to take up the mantle if offered it. It is both an honor and an obligation and V has plenty of obligations and already above and beyond his call of duty. More work for V is absurd. I think we need two balanced temperaments. Neverending is wise, mostly impartial and doesn't take any shit, the same would be true of Flayed. As a third nominee, I would say Pinkfloyd. She displays compassion, wisdom and a desire to mediate disputes. Neverending/Flayed and Pinkfloyd. If V will have it, and I can well understand if he wouldn't or would be reluctant, it should be him and Maggie.
