The Simpsons now > Anything else on TV other than My Name Is Earl.

But that's just my opinion of course.

Oof. The Simpsons have been grasping at straws for YEARS. I just don't find them funny anymore... The writing is lacking now, which makes me sad especially since they used to be the best show on television.

However, in regards to comedic TV, it's shows like The Office and 30 Rock that do it for me now (and I REALLY wish Arrested Development hadn't gotten cancelled).

I'm not saying it's still great or even good. I'm just saying the rest of TV now sucks just as bad and in most cases worse. But I don't watch much TV outside of about 5 or 6 shows.

I hear ya! Arrested Development is the funniest show I've ever seen. Derek and I watched a whole seaon in one sitting to catch all the seal refrences. Great show. way better than the Simpsons (which I've never found funny)

and

and The Simpsons got crappy a long time ago.

Yeh, all these new episodes are using manatee jokes in the fashion of family guy, except they don't cutaway and are much less funny. They're just bits of a scene where somebody says or does something which has nothing to do with the story, but is still in that scene. Family guy do it well, Simpsons don't.

Family guy > Scrubs > South Park > Futurama > The rest (With the simpsons in there somewhere.

urgeok2 06-16-2008 08:29 AM

family guy blows snot through a rolled up turd covered in vomit.

ferretchucker 06-16-2008 08:31 AM

I'll take that as a compliment to family guy

urgeok2 06-16-2008 08:34 AM

seriously i hate it.

simpsons threw away better jokes than family guy used.

family guy pretty much yells at the TV screen

"LOOK AT HOW KOOKY AND FAR OUT WE ARE !! WE"RE MAKING KOOKY REFERENCES HERE !! WOO HOO LOOK AT ME !!"

its like they poured king of the hill, the simpsons, and south park into a blender, skimmed off the rudest jokes and threw all the developement, cleverness, and nuance away.

Family Guy does nothing well.

The people at Family Guy think that if it references or recreates something it's funny.

I'll admit I used to like Family Guy when it first came on, but I was about 11 or 12. Now watching it... I can't stand it.

Oh and.

Old Simpsons > My Name Is Earl > Futurama > New Simpsons > South Park > Scrubs > AIDS > Holocaust > Michael Bay > Family Guy > American Dad.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 06-16-2008 08:56 AM

family guy is pretty bad

Vodstok 06-16-2008 09:23 AM

i still enjoy family guy to a degree, as well as american dad. The simpsons has been lacking for a long time, but it is still fun to watch, its like an old couch. it doesnt do its job that well anymore, but there is a comfort in the familiarity, and it is still acceptable.

Southpark keeps getting better in my opinion. their anti-family guy episodes were pretty on the mark, and they still keep a brilliant amount of subtext hiding in the cat piss and fart jokes.

plus, who doesnt love the show that gave us the greatest evil in television history? Specifically, Eric Cartman and the Christmas Critters.

Posher778 06-16-2008 10:24 AM

Aqua Teen Hunger Force> Futurama> Space Ghost> Robot Chicken> Family Guy

urgeok2 06-16-2008 10:50 AM

SCTV > everything and anything before or since

Despare 06-21-2008 03:17 PM

I'm going to see Billy West at a local comedy club in August. That makes me happy.

i felt the same way after i watched the southpark episode with the manatees that ripped on it. i refused to watch it for months afterwards, but it grew back on me a little. there are some good episodes and some bad ones, however South Park continues to prove itself superior.

Zoidberg is trying to find a mate

Dr. Zoidberg: How do I look?
Bender: Like whale barf.
Dr. Zoidberg: Then the illusion is complete.

same episode

Fry: Okay, you're on a date. What's the first thing you do?
Dr. Zoidberg: Ask her to mate with me.
Fry: No, tell her she's special.
Dr. Zoidberg: But she's not, she's merely the female with the largest clutch of eggs.
Fry: Well, tell her that. And then what?
Dr. Zoidberg: Then mating.
Fry: No, make up some feelings and tell her you have them.
[Dr. Zoidberg raises his hand]
Fry: Yes?
Dr. Zoidberg: Is desire to mate a feeling?
Fry: Ugh, you're not even trying.
Dr. Zoidberg: Ohhh, it's all so complicated, with the flowers, and the romance, and the lies upon lies.
