I thought the movie was amazing and I am glad that she was nominated for the Golden Globes, SAG Award, and also the Oscar. She deserves it. The movie was heartfelt, touching, and funny.

She was also great in Hard Candy.

This might be true.

roshiq 01-28-2008 10:52 PM

hey Disease, what if Page casts for a role in Nispel's upcoming Friday the 13th remake?:)

Angra 01-29-2008 12:16 AM

That would make Dis suicidal i'm sure.

Psycom5k 01-29-2008 12:55 AM

Well it would put an end to the seemingly endless sobbing about everybody liking Page better than him. :D

That's just part of his charming personality.

Despare 01-29-2008 08:53 AM

I don't find her special but I don't dislike her. Just another actor right now but I have to admit, she has a lot of potential.

I'll get someone to super impose Sarah Michelle Gellar in there and do a voice over for me before I watch it, I don't know, it's very unlikley she will ever be in a Friday the 13th, it will be dealt with if it ever comes about.

GorePhobia 01-29-2008 11:42 AM

Get over it Disease. :) lol

Ah yes, Ellen Page is annoying, so replace her with Sarah Michelle Gellar- the essense of superior, non-annoying acting.

Was it you that said that? I though it was oops.

EDIT: fixed it. to quote without acutally having to hit quote type this:

[ QUOTE=name of member ]whatever you want in the box[ /QUOTE ]

just with no spaces before or after the [ ]

Are you refering to the fact that I had filmstudent as one word?

Fortunately, not all fans of horror movies need to be exclusively so.

How on earth did you come to that conclusion when I was obviously replying to colubrid ?? Self absorbed much ? :p

EDIT : That would be very petty to refer to something that small ! No, I was referring to him quoting me as having written something I didn't, which he corrected afterwards.

Disease 01-30-2008 10:11 AM

It must have been corrected before I read it then... perhaps..

yeah she was incredible in both of these.
she's probably my favorite rising actress.

she's in a movie called an american crime based off of the true story of sylvia lykens that apparently came out last year (although i never heard, read, or saw anything about it advertising-wise).

http://imdb.com/title/tt0802948/

IggysPinkTights 01-31-2008 02:37 PM

I think this is the movie that's based on the Jack Ketchum book The Girl Next Door...which is based on a true crime that happened in Indiana.
Some people call it the worst case of child abuse.
It's a pretty messed up book...the real story is way harsher.
They also have The Girl Next Door movie...based on the same book but Ketchum was involved with this one.
I really want to see AC.

Castlewood 02-04-2008 06:46 AM

I think Juno sucked, and I'll give my reasons.

- It tries too hard to be artsy. I hate art films that are too pretentious and not self-aware. "Garden State" is a movie that ISN'T like that. It too is an art film, but it manages to skip all the bullshit and just be a MOVIE.

Why Juno tries too hard, and ends up sucking:

"It began with a chair." - first line.
What the fuck began with a chair? They had sex on a couch. This line is an example of being "artsy", but in all honesty, it means absolutely NOTHING. Terrible writing.

- Walking around with Sunny D.
- Completely retarded music.
- Orange Tic-Tacs.
- Hamburger Phone.
- "It ended with a chair."

Once again, these are examples of it TRYING to be artsy, but it fails. It's just random bullshit that tries to have meaning... I think today's definition of making an art-film is just "throwing together as many weird things as possible, and hope to be original and different".. and that's very sad.

Hell, the academy even fell for it. How this movie is nominated for Best Picture, I'll never know. That's probably the WORST choice for a nomination I've EVER seen.

Watch Garden State.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA! Nice one.

Looks like I'm not seeing this movie then, if only to protest lame artsy films like this.

EDIT: as an aside, I think Michael Cera better start expanding his horizons in acting a bit more. Below is a sum up of all the roles he has played:

Arrested Development: Awkward teen

Superbad: Awkward teen

Juno: Awkward teen

I like the kid, but he seems about as versatile as Keanu Reeves.
