Zombies Ate My Neighbors rocks!
|
Yknow what game I always found pretty hard?
Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade. Good game, I liked it a lot...but I seem to recall a kind've annoying difficulty level, and something about a time limit on top of that? (Cant remember exactly). The furthest I ever got was the stage that I guess woulda been the Grail place. Took ages, had like 2 lives left, no continues...last life taken by falling into some damn hole on the letters thing... Might try again sometime, emulation and the whole quicksave thing might help me through it. |
I've been recently playing Zombies Ate my Neighbors and the sequel/spinoff The ghoul Patrol(which to me is half as fun but I still play it).
|
Yeah, never liked ghoul patrol at all...
Funny, two of my favourite games have sequels that suck. GP gets thrown in with "fade to black" |
Cmon...
Last played emulated game? Go. |
I got one
"Metal Black". Above average side-scrolling space shooter dealy. Stupid powerup/charge system though. |
Super Dodgeball
I've ALWAYS loved this game, I will never get tired of it. |
Super Double Dragon. One of my all time faves but Damn it it hard, especially on a computer.
|
To dig up an old thread...
Mainly been playing Amiga games via WinUAE. Ports of Call Marble Madness Archon Defender of the Crown Arctic Fox All early Amiga games, but ones that I remember from the A1000 days. Also been playing some door games via telnet BBS's. Not really emulations I know, but old-school gaming for sure. |
Superfrog, via WinUAE
|
Silent Hill
I never got to play the original. |
Does it play well?
whats the name of the emu? Ha, I got pissed off and stopped bothering with post-16bit emus a couple years ago - I suppose they coulda made some advances. |

It does alright. The best of the ones I've seen so far. Some of the cutscenes are a little off, but it's not so terrible that you can't play it. |
Comix Zone
Kick ass beat em' up. |
I have been really enjoying Amiga games via emulation recently, do decided to get the real thing.
I used to own an Amiga 1000 between 1986 and about 1990. I gave it away to a family member around that time. Anyway, this person used it probably once or twice, and then stored it in their garage. There it has sat for the last 18 years. I only just discovered that they still had my old Amiga 1000, so since they hadn't been using it, I asked if I could have it back. Picked it up today, and am amazed that it still works. The original Kickstart and Workbench disks (the equivalent of BIOS and DOS disks) work fine. The floppy drive works, and the keyboard seems to be fine (although I haven't tested every key). The mouse doesn't work very well - it sticks, and it is sometimes hard to get the pointer to move to the left. I am going to take it apart and see if I can clean the ball rollers and see if that will work. Otherwise, will have to buy a new one. The monitor seems ok, although I think the monitor cable is a bit flakey. I have had the picture flicker a few times, etc but moving the cable around helps. Fortunately, you can still get new mouse and monitor cables cheaply, so I think I will just order some new ones. Still lots more things to test (games, 2nd floppy drive, an old dot matrix printer etc), but at least the basics are intact. |
Alright, im an emulator Noob, how bout's you guys help me out a bit.
Lets say i wanted a PSone emulator, and a place to download games and play them on that emulator, simply, without too much complicated setup, where would I go? |

http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psx/ As I say, I don't know how well they work or how easy they are because I haven't tried any - I tend to prefer older systems for emulation. Playstation roms are also going to be a fair bit harder to track down for two reasons. Firstly they are newer and therefore copyright issues are more likely to be a problem (ie they wouldn't classify as abandonware and Sony are likley to want to protect their copyrights). Also, because they were CD based, they will be larger files than older systems. So I think you would most likely find these files on filesharing networks, and those carry the associated risks. |
Does anyone know what platform the game "journey to the centre of the earth" was on? I know there's probably plenty...this one was a bit like the montezuma titles...pre-16-bit by the look of them.
Always wanted to try that again. |

As for The PSONE Emulator, i downloaded PSX. where can i find ROMS that work with it? *edit* Nevermind, PSX Application wont even open. |
I use ePSXe, here's a link to the emulators and bios files. As for roms, you have to download ISOs and burn them. I don't get into that reallly, just use the emulator to play my imports.

So...that Journey to the centre of the earth game, wouldn't surprise me if it was a c64 game or systems of around that time...anyone actually played it? I only ever saw it at a friends place but it looked pretty cool...
|
For the PS, my recommendation - Connectix VGS.
Comes with a spanking new XP patch too, and plays almost 95% of all games released for the PS. With perfect timing and flawless audio. Never needed the SNES emulator though. The box did fine for me till its last run, and I have moved on to the Wii now anyway. |
let me know if Roll Away aka Kula World can be played on a Play Station emu
|
I Dled a sega Genesis emulator just to play Phantasy Star 3. I remember my bro playing this and it was one of the first games to make me interested in RPG's. Not that great of a game but you know being younger and seeing the colors and the people's pictures when they would talk just enthralled me. I always wondered which game this was and then I finally DLed it and found out.
|
So I finally figured out how the Play Station emu works and are now playing my favourite game Kula World aka Roll Away.
If anybody want this game or need help just let me know..here is a clip of the game on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcJbc...ums/showthread |
Those that have a PS3, Kula World (among an increasing number of other PS1 titles) is available for HardDrive download.
Yeah, it seems a bit slow by todays standards but it's a fun, challenging game. How does the PS1 emu work for you in general? Easy to find games and all? Any 2p support? I thought I'd hit up this thread to keep it alive. Latest flashbacks, guys? I've seriously wanted to get into some 2P bomberman world, beat em ups as well...maybe snow brothers, heh. |

Nuff' Said. |
www.getyourroms.com (i think) is also a pretty good site I've used.
so, to drag this one back to life... *N64*?? I've found roms. I know n64 emulation can be done quite well, as a few years back I knew a guy that had one on his pc...which isn't half as powerful as the one I have now...but it worked fine on his pc. So, I downloaded an emulator called "project 64" and everything looks fine initially, but during the video sequences, and the gameplay, the sound goes to complete shit, all bitsy and delayed, and sometimes the picture appears jumpy too...so I either don't have it set up right or this obviously isn't the same emulator my mate used to use. So, anyone had success with n64 emulation? Suggested emulators? Success with generic controllers? Suggestions? |

Can you tell me if you've done anything with the sound settings?
What settings did you change exactly, because seriously, the sound's for shit, and the games slow down/catch up every few seconds. |

I found Project 64 to be dodgy as well... but I haven't tried messing with the settings yet. Maybe I can get it to run better, for now though there aren't any ROMs I want to play on the PJ64 that I don't already own for my actual N64 console. So I won't bother :p
I've only tried a few other emulators, I got a Commodore64 one once and it was pretty fun, but I prefer playing SNES games so the SNES9X is my friend. I do still have my console but there were a lot of games I never got to play as a kid that I can now enjoy... Currently I'm playing a translation of Seiken Densetsu 3... Secret of Mana 3! It's awesome so I'd recommend it to any of you who like 16-bit RPGs. You can find it in The Vault at Vimmslair.net :) |
Oh yeah... and I got Dosbox (again, since this is a relatively new laptop) and I'm happy to discover it runs well on Vista
So I've been playing three games mainly. Leisure Suit Larry (Hahaha! Such a classic.) Blood And my favourite... Reunion |
I only have the SNES and GameBoy color emulators right now, but I'm not complaining!
I've pretty much got every game I could find for both of them. |
