I am not in denial because I am not gay, I am bisexual and still I am not in denial about liking both genders, I do not hate gay people, and I am not in the closet.

I have openly bi since 7th grade...well actually I came out as gay and then later discovered an attraction for girls as well but anyways..

get over it.

The STE 04-22-2006 02:44 PM

hey, don't start spewing your anti-gay rhetoric at me, Adolf!

bloodrayne 04-22-2006 03:41 PM

LOL...Jeez, I'm gone for a couple of days, and look what I missed...

@Nick....Sam is not 'bashing' you, he's playing with you....I really don't think that anyone here truly cares who (or what) anyone else here sleeps with

Horror fans generally tend to be a bit more 'opened-minded' than many others....Many hours of blood, guts, gore, death and destruction tends to expose one to things that not everyone is exposed to....You eventually get to the point where NOTHING surprises you anymore....No one really exclaims ''OMG!'' to homosexuality/bisexuality in this day and age...The usual reaction is just "meh, who cares?"

Posher isn't putting anyone down, he's simply saying "If you are afraid of the reaction you may get by saying that you're something, then why say it at all?"...AND..."If you're not worried about the reaction, say whatever ya like, and don't pay attention to any reaction"...Straight people don't normally announce it like, "Well, I'm a chick and my boyfriend (yeah, I'm straight) smokes the same thing I do", so it just seemed a little funny when you made the distinction...See what I mean?....At least that's the way I took it...

We have gay people here, straight people, Christians, Wiccans, Pagans, Buddhists, Taoists, Atheists, Blondes, Brunettes, Redheads, Old people, Young people, Smokers, Non-smokers, musicians, artists, People of different races, Freaks and Geeks, Guys, Gals, etcetera...We all love horror, and that's WHY we're here....The rest doesn't matter

As for the current topic...

I hate smoking, and everything that goes along with it...I don't smoke a LOT, but I would love to not smoke at all...However, I can't stop (sucks, huh?)...It's my only addiction besides sex (but, that one's okay;))...

Pall Mall Lights (cuz they're cheap)

ANyways, maniac...you seem a little touchy about the topic, so maybe you should kick back and light up another one, I mean, if as you say, you calm yourself by putting something in your mouth and sucking it...I've said all I care to.
No i'm not angry about the topic, just whiney people who cry about 2nd hand smoke. Your saying that it harms all of us ? What about the pollution from all the cars, factories ? SHould the government ban them also ? If so how would you get somewhere a hour away ? I think the cars are much more worse to us than a little cig. Smoking runs in my family my dad done it my grandfather done it and I will continue to do it, it's part of me I don't care what anyone thinks I don't care about my health, let me die from smoking I could careless because then I wouldn't be stuck here on earth with a bunch of "stupid people". Who in the end will end up destroying this planet by going to war with each other. GET ME THE FUCK OUTTA HERE COME ON LUNG CANCER !

alright now I think I might go for a smoke to kill everyone in my neighbor hood see ya later !! :D

I don't really whine about it, just acknowledge it for the problem that it is...it's just my perspective. If you think what I'm saying is wrong, YOU are. If you think what I'm saying is without good cause, that's because your perspective on the matter is biased the other way. I guess at least I can say that for the majority of the time, my minds not clouded by a substance that allegedly alters my state of mind, however "mildly". Clear, calm thoughts come to me naturally...I sympathise if they don't for you.
As for cars...well, personally I own a Giant mountainbike...takes my everyplace I need to go in general. If you're talking about great distances, as I've said, I take a train...however, I'm not completely again cars (perhaps people using them so much out of laziness, which would roughly equate to my standard views about moderation), ONE car can take multiple people places, and, well...cars actually DO something useful for a lot of people. Also, at least ways are being worked upon to make the emissions from cars less damaging to people and the environment all the time...it would be nice if such initiatives were put in place to reduce smoker emissions...Either way, I don't really think you can compare the two...it's a useful invention vs a selfish habit...

That there's a little bullshit mixed with denial. You have an image of yourself not smoking, and you think that's how it ought to be...but, you don't really wanna stop, those that do want to stop, achieve as such. It's about removing temptation from yourself (hmmmm....maybe, stop buying/accepting them?) and in some cases, removing yourself from temptation, which in itse;f is a challenge, as you may have to think about your lifestyle in general, activities, where you go, what you do...etc... as I said, it's a challenge, but it's not impossible - I don't think anybody in the world can rightfull say they CAN'T stop.

I truly understand what you're saying...However, I HAVE tried and the withdrawals (nausea, irritability, nervousness, migraines, sleeplessness) are just too much for me right now...I don't have time to be incapacitated like that...Maybe when the kids are grown and gone, and I can curl up in a ball in a dark corner for a couple of weeks till it passes....

As much as I dislike smoking, I dislike the agony of the quitting process more...

On a side note: I don't allow ANYONE to smoke around my kids...I keep my addiction to myself...My kids will NEVER smoke, because even they know how much I hate it and how difficult it is to stop...If nothing else, I can be an example to them this way...

Haunted 04-23-2006 04:17 AM

My psychiatrist recomends that I wait for a very stable point in my life, because quitting immediately could cause a serious drop or rise in mood. My plan is to get rid of this really bad ear infection. When my doctor gives me the all clear to resume swimming, the cigs are gone, because I'm going to couple swimming with water aerobics. I need my lungs for this. I feel like I can, because I'm still relatively young, erase a bit of the damage that I've caused. However, I certainly can rebuild a lot of my lung strength.

It's hard as absolute hell to quit smoking, but I mean to do it. I hate smoking, but nicotine is so highly physcially addictive, and the cigs themselves are so high psychologically addictive. However, this little Witch want's to be rid of the habbit once and for all, so I figure being in top form for swimming, and exercize is a great incentive to quit.

That's more than my parents ever did for me...I had to rely on my common sense...however, if what you say is true I commend you for being as responsible as any parent/guardian of any children SHOULD...

Haunted 04-23-2006 08:48 AM

Yeeeaaah, even around kids old enough to realize it smells bad and is unhealthy and are able to walk out of the room. They're still getting negative effects from the smoke. Even more so, it sets a really bad example for those kids even if they don't start until, say in their early twenties. That cig reminds them of mum, and therefore comfort and home. That's not quite (to put it very mildly), the message you want to send to your children.

I definitely agree with this one, because I grew up around smokers. Now I'm in the cycle, and can't get out. I know what Rayne means about the agony of quitting, but I want out. I'm really hoping that starting swimming is going to really boost my innitiative to stop.

I hoping the side of my brain that wants to be a top form really amatuer swimmer convinces that little but LOUD part of my brain that likes cigarettes, that swimming is a hell of a lot cooler than Camels. I absolutely love swimming, so that might just be the inspiration that I need. I swear that I'm crossing fingers, toes, and brain cells.:)

It's a bit of a bitch of a reality...but I believe if you do wanna actually quit, you might have to distance yourself from these friends, at least for a while...because if you're there, not only is the obvious temptation and availability of the product, but also, with people smoking around you, you may as well be smoking yourself. Better luck next time.

Alright let me ask you why smoking makes me selfish and Irresponsible ? I am not selfish, I lend my hand to anyone who needs help, i'm that kind of guy. Irresponsible ? Please i'm 21 working 50 - 60 hour weeks to support my fiance and help my mother out. I'm going to school part time so I can get a better job i'm pretty much as responsible as you can get. So why don't you try to get to know me instead of judging me by what I say on here. This is a fourm peoples opinion's right ? So before you wan't to call me selfish and irresponsible come here sit down and get to know me alright ? May I ask are you a christian ?

cheebacheeba 04-23-2006 08:09 PM

Alright let me ask you why smoking makes me selfish and Irresponsible ?
I wasn't actually referring to you, rather...your family members that you mentioned, grandfather, father...etc...see, if it's just a constant cycle, it should be stopped at some point. Who knows?...maybe something I say will get through to you, and you'll be the one to break it yourself...
Yes, I think it's selfish and irresponsible for ANY parent/relative to smoke around a child, to the extent that not only will the child accept it as normal, but fall into the cycle themself. You pretty much said that's what happened, unless I misread something...I can't believe that they'd allow you to start the habit yourself, most likely before you were even fully aware of all the potential consequences, I mean...warnings will never mean much coming from someone who smokes themselves, will they? not to a young person...Not to mention the health problems that they've probably suffered (I'm pretty sure at least one of them would've had a severe bronchial infection at some point in their life at the very least), the poor athletic ability, the eventual reduced sexual function (this is true), and the financial drain.
From my perspective - and yes, someone who was around smokers for most of their young life too - I hated it, and I consider it almost child abuse. Indirectly of course...I'm not saying they acted out of malicious intent, but definately irresponsibility, and yes, selfishness...I don't think many people in this situation have much chance to come out of it a non-smoker themselves.
Smoking in general also, at least while in public...I have to stick to my guns here and say that I do feel it's selfish and irresponsible...does it make you a completely selfish and irresponsible person? No...However, I think that it IS selfish in that you're indulging in a substance that can harm those around you with little regard or respect for their choices to be healthy, and the irresponsibility comes in, as I believe that as human beings, we should look out for eachother more than this, as a basic responsibility.
It's like...non-smokers don't have to care about you spoiling your own health, in your own time and space, as you make a conscious decision to do so...it's not like fresh air will not harm you, but non-smokers cannot have that luxury...smoking in public can harm others, for this reason and this reason alone, I have my reasons against it. It's nothing personal...you could be a great guy...but, the bottom line is, if everybody gave a shit about others as much as they should, this wouldn't even be an issue.

Also, I was born a catholic or christian...or something along those lines, but religion isn't a priority for me right now, I generally follow a code of ethics, and like to think I do more good than bad...so if eventually that doesn't fit into almost any religion anyway, I'd be surprised.

Also...I don't smoke in public, and it irritates me when others do...We ALWAYS sit in non-smoking sections in restaurants, and if we are too close to the smoking section, and we get smoke, it irritates me....People know not to smoke around me when I'm eating, and I don't smoke around others when they're eating

Like I said, "It's MY addiction"....I don't 'share' it

I DO smoke when I'm driving...But, not if the kids are with me
