Just to get suggestions on the best movie that you all seen in 2006.... that why I said the best horror that I've seen SO FAR is The Hills Have Eyes remake.

Any other good horror movies that came out late 2005 or in 2006?

Sick_As_Fuck 07-12-2006 06:24 PM

Can't exactly remember the dates, but thus far for me it goes...

1. Hostel
2. The Hills Have Eyes
3. The Omen/Saw II [tie]
4. See No Evil
5. When A Stranger Calls

Can't remember if I saw anything else. My memory's horrible.

spookychild 07-13-2006 12:13 PM

The Hills Have Eyes. It scared the crap out of me and I felt violated after coming out of the theater.

You weren't sitting next to Pee-Wee Herman, were you?

Gatekeeper6sic6 07-26-2006 02:04 AM

Between 2005 and 2006 I will have to say Sin city best movie of all time. It's like the only good movie I seen until it first came out and until. Nothing I seen so far had catch my heart like sin city did.

joshaube 07-26-2006 05:27 AM

Updated;

Hard Candy
V for Vandetta
The Hills Have Eyes
Pirates of the Carribean 2

Angra 07-26-2006 07:02 AM

"Silent Hill" so far..

But thereīs a lot of new horror movies that i havenīt seen yet, such as "The hills have eyes", "Slither", "Half light"... Etc.

:(

Jacob Singer 07-26-2006 08:01 AM

...It's hard. I spent most of this year workin' and I don't have see all the new stuff (Hills have eyes, Slither...). I've only seen "V for Vendetta", not bad but I can't said that is one of the best till I have seen more "new" films ( During my hollydays I would be most of them time watching films ) Otherwise, finally the next week Silent Hill arrives to Spain....too late but I still have some faith on this film.

best=hills have eyes
worst=silent hill....why do poeple like this movie?

sullenbliss 07-31-2006 04:32 PM

ha i saw hostel.... if you like cheesy lines and a lot of boobs in your movies.. then um go for it. i did not enjoy it. but on the other hand i did just see saw ll, which i did enjoy although where i saw it the sound quailty was pretty poor. the plot was pretty good i thought but certain details could have been left out to add to the "game" but oh well. i have been hearing a bunch about the hills have eyes, which i guess my friends are making me go see.

Unaboner3000 08-08-2006 09:11 PM

I thought Hills Have Eyes absolutely stunk like an 80 year old sneaker. Boooooring!

Hostel was a pretty good movie with only one complaint from me (and it's a big complaint). Enough with all the boobies and asses and softcore porn sex! Jeez! If I want something to masterbate to, I wouldn't put in a horror movie.

The Omen remake was mediocre. Loved the original.

All in all, the horror movies of late all were not very good, although Hostel would have been a really good movie without all the sex sh*t and a little more character development.

"Half light" sucked ass.

To call it horror would be an insult to the horror genre...

urgeok 08-09-2006 08:35 AM

i'd have to go with Silent Hill ... so far

BH14 08-09-2006 12:24 PM

It seems like many people enjoyed Silent Hill. I think it comes out next week to DVD. I am gonna check that out. And a lot of people are loving "The Descent". Even though it came out earlier, it is new in US theatres.

BH14 08-10-2006 01:29 PM

After hearing you all praise "V for Vendetta", I wanted to see this movie and I rented it. Gonna check it out later. I am sure it is good.

GameOver 08-11-2006 11:12 AM

Hills Have Eyes hands down.

AUSTIN316426808 08-11-2006 12:40 PM

Horror- The Hills Have Eyes

Overall- Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Of course there's alot I haven't seen yet and alot still to be released.

Zero 08-11-2006 04:05 PM

boy - tough one. . . not sure any films this year have lived up to my expectations. . esp. horror films. i'm looking forward to the descent, but not putting out much hope.

I would've listed it best horror so far, but since it was officially released last year i left it out of the equation.

Do you think Descent is better than Hills Have Eyes remake? I wanna see it.

alkytrio666 08-12-2006 10:04 AM

Either:

Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest

or

The Descent

Easily.

Gorier. Scarier. A better plot and setting, and an original story.

Very much so.

joshaube 08-12-2006 05:35 PM

Hm.

Can you really count The Descent as a 2006 film? I wouldn't. It definately is in the top of 2005 though.

I wouldn't say it was GORIER then The Hills Have Eyes (unrated) either. Definately not.

Orginal, well... I don't know. Probably. There is The Cave. And I have heard that there was a similiar movie made a few years back also. Not 1:1 similiar, but neither is THHE 1:1 to the original.

Better might fit. But I liked both very much, and I'd have a problem picking between the two, personally.

Of course the plots for either aren't THAT complex. The Descent does win by a bit by giving us a sense of background on the characters. But both are, underneath, just paths so characters can die.

Direction wise, both are pretty superior to most directors. I really, definately, couldn't pick between the two.

I'd say if you're a more "mature", "intellectual" watcher... you'd probably prefer The Descent.

This is just my opinion, as everyone has theirs.

I never understand this, what's wrong with well written characters that you actually have a chance to give a damn about.

Hostel for example, couple college guys on vacation in Europe, that's all you know about 'em so to me they're just a couple idiots in the wrong place at the wrong time and I couldn't careless what happens. At that point I'm just waiting to see if they get killed in an interesting way.

On the other hand in The Descent I actually cared what happened which really got me into it when the shit hit the fan, that raised the suspense level and made the whole film better.

Also The Descent was released before The Cave. Obviously I'm not sure of the other film you're referring to but I'm thinking it's Alone in the Dark? which was just being released while The Descent was still being filmed. I'm not saying it was completely original but what is anymore?

Absolutely nothing. I never said there was. I actually feel the same way.

As for the other movies, the title escapes me - but I remember reading it in a thread... either IMDb or Dead-Donkey. It might have been Alone in the Dark. And yeah, nothing's entirely original anymore.

A) In America, where I live, The Descent wasn't released until 2006. Therefore, I consider it a 2006 movie.

B) It was gorier than 'Hills'. They gouge a thing's eyes out in 'Descent'.

C) It was original. At least more original than 'Hills', which was a remake, for chrissake.

BH14 01-25-2007 10:16 PM

I thought that I would bring this topic back up. I saw lot of good horror movies this year but what horror movie was the best? Even though The Descent was really a 2005 film, I would consider it the best horror movie for 2006 in the US. The ending was pretty lame but it had so many good things working. In a close second was The Hills Have Eyes remake. With Saw 3 that I just watched coming in a respectable 3rd place. Other mentionable movies that I liked were TCM:the beginning and Slither. TCM: Beginning movie blew away my expectations!

I havent seen An American Haunting, See No Evil, Pulse, Stay Alive, When a Stranger Calls (remake), The Wicker Man (remake), House of the Dead 2. I dont think I will be seeing any of them either.

pinkerton 01-25-2007 10:24 PM

Not horror but I would say Little Miss Sunshine.Go ahead and flame away......

Great movie... I saw it in the theatre and bought it on DVD. I went into the theatre not knowing how funny it was and was laughing all throughout. I hope the little girl wins an oscar! Best comedy of the year and best movie overall this year that I seen. I havent seen The Departed or Babel yet but I did enjoy Blood Diamond as my 2nd favorite.

Amalthea_unicorn 01-26-2007 01:54 AM

I've only seen Final Destination 3.
