Speaking in spal's defence, as you are haunteds...offence does not have to be intended, for one to be offended.
And,
I feel obliged to point out that at no point in the original idea ,as set out by the poster, does it say to make the questions personal.
But also, there's personal (eg - we don't know this about your life), and there's innapropriate. Each person has a right to react differently to these kind of questions, at least as much of a right as those that i interpret "interesting" as "sexual" have to well, for lack of a better word, hijack a thread. Besides, I think she was essentially uncomfortable with me being asked stuff like this, and didn't want the same for herself, the request seems polite enough, and the point has been made.

That said, no harm done on my part...I'm not entirely comfortable with those kind of questions, but whatever, I'm not about to sue anyone over them.
