I haven't been a fan of horror my entire life, I've only really gotten into it the last 5 or 6 years or so. I saw Friday and Nightmare movies when I was younger (I'm 21 now) but they never really did anything for me, I thought they were more funny than scary. It was Halloween that really got me into Horror movies. I still remember the scene where Jamie Lee Curtis was calling for Tommy Doyle to open the door and watching Micheal just walk after her in the distance...that was the scene that did it for me, I have been hooked on horror ever since then. In time I've come to really appreciate all of the slasher movies, but for a long time I would accept nothing other than Halloween. I know that wasn't really on topic for why Micheal never dies. For that my answer is that he is pure evil. How can pure evil die? And I definatly feel the same way as Leslie, 1&2 were basically one great movie, and thats were i consider the true story to be over. the others are just wonderfully sweet desert.

amen to all the loyal halloween fans!

I've discovered something about horror movies and thought I'd see what you guys thought about it. Horror movies aren't scary. They aren't meant to be. They are more for the entertainment of the horror in the movie, but not meant to install fear in you. That is where Thrillers and Suspense lie. They too have horror in them at times, but they are the ones that are all about scaring you. Horror movies on the other hand like the big three (Freddy, Jason, and Michael) are more about the horror part. Halloween does kind of straddle the fence a bit though with the mannerisms of Michael though, bringing a bit of suspense into it, but it is still more a horror movie than a suspense. That is my take on it, after seeing as many horror movies and thrillers as I have seen. They all seem to go by that formula.

but I love it, the mask, the hair, the eyes, I love micheal, but I like the hellraiser movies better, even friday the 13th, don't ask me why, it's just like that |
What the hell have I started haha

Someone said that Halloween is not "as scary as movies from 1990????? O my god, what movie from 1990 was scary?
I find it really really funny that people are arguing over opinions . Halloween is a classic, by the very definition. So is Citizen Kane, but I don't like it. I will argue though that horror movies are just that "Horror". Dave you don't think The Thing was scary? How about The Exorcist or The Omen or The Shining? I have to disagree with you there. Don |

I just saw the Hellraiser movies over the course of the last couple of weeks. They were pretty good, but not exactly my cup of tea. One thing I did love...Almost evertime Pinhead says something, its more bad ass and evil sounding than the last thing he said.

However, The Thing is another type of movie that straddles the Sci-fi fence. But not, it wasn't a scary movie to me at all. The Exorcist is the movie that I knew someone would mention, and I'm still not afraid of that movie. There were things in it that were freaky, but for the most part it was just a horror movie. Stuff grossed me out as a kid, but didn't scare me. The Omen was not scary at all to me. |

If part 6 made any sense then yes the reason why he can't die is because his spirit is posessed and his body is not in control of him so if his body is hurt then it does not affect him because his soul lives on. But I hate it when people say "he is just pure evil, errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" that is one lame ass explanation:rolleyes:
|
Am I the only one that noticed that at the end of part 4 when they shot the crap out of him that his clothes didn't rip at all, yet he flintched alot like he was being hit?
|
Thats just a fuck up
|
haha, I'd say so...but I love when they do stuff like that (me = MST3K fan)

long live the beauty queen
Michael is far superior IMO to any of the other baddies and i can't see a flaw though may be i am biased. i watched halloween 4 this past w/e and i loved it. a little similar to the first in pace and gore and that was okay. i LOVE when he's almost at the top of the stairs and they're trapped in the house and foolish brady is trying to fight micheal w/ the gun and he just takes that gun away from him and drops it over the railing..that's what he thinks of them..they're useless against him! talking about him gives me chills! i love him!!!!! watched jason x as well and that movie is fun; i watched the special stuff and they went on about how jason is superior to michael...HAHAHAHA!! WHATEVER! JASON is all right but he's no Mike!

It should have been Jason vs. Mike but again, Jason would have to win no matter who he fights. There is a reason for this: Jason X. He can't die before Jason X because if he does, they wouldn't have been able to make Jason X because the main character wouldn't have been available.
|
GET REAL THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THAT IF YOU GO AND TELL THEM THEY'LL MAKE MORE MONEY IF THEY HAVE JASON LOSE THEN THEY'D DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. |

i'm soooooo
with austin on this it's not even funny. no vs movies it really is doing an injustice to really great films. halloween is a classic truly-why can't we make more sequels that are GOOD!? why ruin something that is so awesome that it stands the test of time. that is genius! hollywood is full of whores who's only goal is to make money and yes! it makes the world go 'round but why trash something good for the sake of making a buck?!

Michael Meyers
The problem I have with the Michael Meyers series is they never explained his motive or reason for killing everyone. At least with Jason, Freddy, and Chucky they did that. I don't really buy the reason they gave in Part 6. I also question the killer's motive in "Saw". What a lame reason. He kills because people don't appreciate what they have in their lives. Boo-hoo-hoo. Give me a real motive, like revenge.
|
Someone mentioned the Myers head tilt earlier.. I love that. It lets you know he's not a complete murder machine but he apparently has to stop and think for a second too.
Basically Myers, Jason, Freddy, Pinhead are all forms of evil, and there's no real way to kill that. Scripts come up with a way to make you think its finally over and then the next script comes around and he's back again slashing someones face off. Freddy is my favorite, and the most entertaining. "KUNG FU THIS, BITCH!". C'mon, it doesnt get any better than that |

I love Halloween. I've probably seen it a hundred times. Who cares what Michael's motive is? Why does he even have to have one? Why can't we just say that he kills because he wants to and shut up and enjoy the movie.
There are certain movies that require you to really focus and pay attention otherwise you're lost, but I do not think that Halloween is one of them. If you're sitting there wondering about continuity problems then you really aren't just enjoying the movie for what it is. It's entertainment. |
