Congrats, I'm not trying to jinks it or anything but unless something goes horribly wrong you got the division. Win a division title and go into the playoffs with a win over the Super Bowl favorites under your belt, that's a huge step for a second year coach with rookie QB and a franchise draft pick injured most of the season. Lovie Smith looks like the real deal, might take you guys back to the ''Monsters of the Midway'' days.

I knew they were good but I wasn't expecting a win over the Panthers anymore than you were.

I'm gonna go outside and look for a 100 dollar bill on the ground. I think its one of those days.

poploser73 11-20-2005 06:06 PM

didn't see the Bears game but read the recap afterward. Why am I not suprised? Meanwhile, my Lions keep reminding me why I rooted for the Bears most of the 80's!! ha ha... Can't say enough for Lovie and the Bears to jump on that division and go to town. I think they showed today they are the real deal and could easily put together a great record of wins over the next few games.

bwind22 11-22-2005 02:54 AM

The Vikings beat the Packers twice this year! Woohoo!

See? All we needed was for our star player (Culpepper) to go down for the season and now we're on the right path. (3-0 since Culpepper went out.)

So the Vikes are 5-5 and despite being 2 games back on the Bears, have a decent shot at making the playoffs. Damn that'd be funny if they made it after the start we got off to. The Bears have a tougher schedule than us plus they only have 2 home games left, but what could be our saving grace is that we still play them once more this year and it's the last game of the season. That game could very well be for the division title to see which NFC North lackluster club will proceed to the playoffs where they will get whooped one of the teams that actually has talent this year.

I've never been a huge fan, but after seeing that Colts Bengals game, I have to say that I think Indy is gonna go 16-0 and win the SuperBowl this year. Their biggest challenge is next Monday, but if they get by Pittsburgh, I think they're going undefeated.

You'll never beat the Bears... never.

Agreed, the Bears Defense is too good and physical.

Bears' biggest win of the season was Sunday against the Super Bowl favorites who they shut down with good, physical defense.

Viks biggest win was against the Giants because of poor play by the Giants rather than exceptional play by the Vikings.

You put very good, physical defense and a all-pro reciever, steady ball control offense.

up against

Bend but don't break, big play defense and fast finese skill players, QB managment offense.

and the Bears' type will USUALLY do better.

I'm not just saying that because I hate the Vikings because as you both know I'm a Packer fan so I hate you both equally.

Star player?

Don't tell me you still have faith in that guy? Brad Johnson walked in and took over the exact same team Culpepper left behind and goes 3-0.

Now I'll give him the benifit of the doubt, maybe he's just gotta get used to not having Moss drawing a triple team, leaving a reciever open and still being able to get the jump ball himself, that's alot to lose and Moss has been their the entire time Daunte has so it's understandable.

With Johnson being a veteran who's been with the team before and most importantly has a Super Bowl under his belt doing the same thing(game managing) I see why he could step in and do better but if we see the same time next year Culpepper just aint got it.

Plus the Vikings have a total of 13 offensive touchdowns the entire year, 4 under Brad Johnson. They aren't a good offensive team with either QB, and that touchdown total is the WORST for a team with at least a .500 record.

So good luck...:D

AUSTIN316426808 11-22-2005 02:39 PM

Brad Johnson is a good QB but he's not right for the offensive design. They've got a bunch of fast finese players with a managment QB. They're surviving off turnovers and special teams, you can get away with that in college(Frank Beamer did it very well for a long time until Micheal Vick showed up) but it's going to catch up to you sooner or later in the NFL.

Panthers
Seahawks
Cowboys
Bears

There's your division champs unless something unexpected happens, although I'm not sure the Panthers are a complete lock yet, Cadillac is back so the Buccs have a real chance and how's this for a scary thought....Micheal Vick is actually learning how to throw so the Falcons have a real chance too.

Michael Vick thinks he's superman and he tries to do ridiculous things after every snap. He's going to do die on the football field, I guarantee it.

I agree, his career will probably end because of injury, either that or he'll have enough to keep him from fully developing his full potential which is high as the sky.

bwind22 11-22-2005 06:05 PM

We'll see. The Bears aren't gonna finish better than 9-7 so it'll depend on what the Vikings do.

By calling Culpepper a star player, I just mean that our whole offense had been geared around him and now he's gone. I well aware that our defense and special teams are keeping us afloat right now, but we're getting the wins and that's what matters. Vikes are gonna win the NFC North when they beat the Bears in week 17 and then I'm gonna come back to this thread and point out the fact that I called it way back here before week 12.

Austin..... The Vikes may not be too feasible as a legit playoff hopeful (Definately not as a legit Super Bowl contender) but they sure know how to beat The Packers this year. Owned at the Dome and Lambeau! Must be a rough time to be a Packer fan. :p

AUSTIN316426808 11-22-2005 06:12 PM

Well, I think the season would've went alot better if....uh...oh yeah, the entire roster wasn't half dead but it's cool you can only dominate a division for so long. I'm a true fan, not going to bail on 'em the first losing season in over a decade, ecspecially when injury is to blame.

You really think the Bears are gonna go 2-4 the rest of the way or is that just the die hard fan side of you talking?

And you're absolutely right, winning is the important thing no matter how it happens, my point was that you can't keep it up for 9 weeks straight.

bwind22 11-22-2005 06:17 PM

Yeah, look at the Bears schedule from here on out.

@ Tampa Bay
vs. Green Bay
@ Pittsburgh
vs. Atlanta
@ Green Bay
@ MInnesota

4 road games and that's a pretty tough schedule. They'll probably beat the Pack once maybe twice and maybe MInn, but like I said, I think that game will be for the division.

AUSTIN316426808 11-22-2005 06:36 PM

I've got 'em at 3-3....

Split with the Pack

If Orton has protection I think they'll take the Vikings

and I think they'll take one out of the other three, most likely Atlanta since they live off running.

If Rothlisbergr isn't back yet or not at 100% and they can knock him around they might be able to take the Steelers out too.

bwind22 11-22-2005 06:59 PM

We'll see what happens... The Vikes are finding ways to get 'er done right now so just imagine what would happen if our offense actually did start clicking.

And NOTHING'S getting to our heads, not yet. We're Chicago sports fans.

AUSTIN316426808 11-24-2005 11:06 AM

Ya got a World Series(not the World Series 3/4 of the city would like but a World Series nonetheless), the Bulls are going to be pretty damn good next year if not this year and the Bears going to the playoffs with the best Defense in the league.....

lighten up, it's getting better.

Way to go Lions for losing again.

Way to go Denver defense for making Drew Bledsoe look old.

And I do hate overtime, especially in games riddled with flags like this one.

Guess it doesn't matter now thanks to Dayne.

Yes.......

Go Denver.

AUSTIN316426808 11-24-2005 04:13 PM

Did you like the White Cowboy uniforms? I thought they were kinda cool.

NECRO666 11-24-2005 04:17 PM

THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS :D  the game where the face the saints it wasn't on t.v where im at, it better not happen again. benn watching the pats since 84-85?. The patriots still have a shot. If the pats don't make the Sb then brady should get Season MvP.

AUSTIN316426808 11-24-2005 04:22 PM

Sorry to break it to you but they'll be lucky to make the playoffs and Brady isn't even in contention for the MVP.

My ass he should. There's a list of people who should be put ahead of Brady. With the longest winning streak at 2, I don't think Brady deserves the regular season MVP.

AUSTIN316426808 11-24-2005 04:32 PM

Peyton Manning
Dwight freeny
Steve Smith
Carson Palmer
Shaun Alexander
Brian Urlacher
Jake Plummer
Micheal Vick

Honorable mentions if not for injury....
Ben Rothlisbergr
Cadillac Williams

Brady is behind all of the above.

NECRO666 11-24-2005 04:34 PM

Brady been doing great all season. If manning and others could get mvp with out winning SB then why not brady. I think brady is 2# or 3# on the qb raiting. this is brady best season for his stats in his carrer. BRADY MVP. MVP MVP, ok SB MVP is better :D
