Ichi is a cool film, I can't fault it as much as you have.

Ichi might not be as scary as Audition, but the torture scene in Ichi had me running away screaming noo!! It kept getting worse, and after he poured the boiling water on the guy, i was freaked but still watching and then he got another needle and i just ran screaming no more!!! Audition is still scarier in the sense that the part leading up to the torture scene messes with you so you want to close your eyes, but Ichi's level of gore is just so brutal that it's hard to watch. It's not as scary but it's a Google-plex times more gut wrenching.

What's wrong with that? I have conversations with myself all the time.

Anyway, I saw about forty minutes or so of this movie and to tell the truth, I couldn't stomach it. It seemed needlessly misogynistic. I felt kind of dirty watching it.....lol....but many others I have discussed it with seem to love it. It was recommended to me several times. And I really tried to give it a chance, it is just not for me.

I don't think that Itchi was that scary...but it was very heavy on the gore! I would recommend this movie to anyone. It is has scenes that I guarentee you won't forget.

Ichi The Killer was a great movie. Not as scary as Audition, but gory enough to make up the differance. I recantly found a movie called Ichi that's a prequel. It's not done by Miike and I have yet to watch it, so I can't say how good/bad it is.

One of the reasons I had to stop watching...... Shudders :eek:

yea i guess thiers sopposed to be a sequal to "Ichi The Killer" labled " ICHI 1" I saw in ad in my newest Rue Morgue, i guess its about Ichi battling a whole bunch of " Bullies" at school, probobly heavy on the gore again, at least i hope.

it wasn't the gore, because the moment that had me running had very little blood. it was the whle boiling water and the sounds as he put the needle through his neck.

I agree on the substandard CGI, but having said that, and looking at your other comments, it seems many people come to Ichi expecting a flash and macho action movie.

It isn't - it's another bizarre concoction from the mind of Takashi Miike (based on the extreme Manga), and as anyone who follows his films will agree, heroics and straightforward logic are not necessary.

Ichi in the movie is pathetic, perverted and damaged - Kakihara is similarly off-the-rails, but more sadistic.

P.S. There are many cut versions of this film in circulation, which may be the problem here as the sickeningly realistic beating of the prostitute, hook-hanging and double nipple-slicing scenes could hardly be considered restrained.

So I watched Ichi the Killer last night..All I can say is wow! I know this is not a horror movie per say but it deserves to be talked about in a horror forum. This movie was brutal (in a good way) some of the scenes just made me cringe ex. the metal spike through the bottom of the guys jaw and the nipple slicing...[]shutters[] My only question is what in the hell happened in the end the last 15 minutes totally confused me can anyone shed some light for me..????

This is really debatable, but I'll give my interpretation of the ending, which may very well be completely wrong. After Ichi kills the little boy's father (I forget his name), he goes into a state of near-catatonic psychosis, and is severely beaten, and possibly killed, by the little boy as Kakihara looks on. Throughout the film, Kakihara had been searching out Ichi, but he didn't just want to fight. He wanted Ichi to kill him. Upon seeing that Ichi is no longer capable of killing, he drives his weapons into his own brain, causing the hallucination that led to his death. Jijii's purpose in life was to destroy Kakihara's gang. With this mission fulfilled, he no longer has a reason to live, and hangs himself.

Awesome movie. You know Tarantino's seen it a dozen times too.

Watched it tonight, thought it was a lot more coherant than I was lead to believe and in the directors cut some great gory scenes. I have my own opinion about the ending but I want to wait until I see it a few more times.

Great film, typical blood n guts u come to expect from manga. Think i enjoyed Battle Royale more but that was easier to watch than Ichi

Looks too "ching chang" for me, but I think I still would like it.
