nice list there buddy, id have to disagree on the stones, i must admit im not a huge fan but anyone who charges 130 dollars a ticket for shows is bullshit in my book, even if you CAN do it and still make money.

hear you about the stones man, i think they lost it completely after tattoo you, the stadium gigs are just diabolical these days (i would go if it were a free $185 ticket). i saw a show on hbo the other day, it was limp posturey bullsh*t, even 'gimme shelter' sounded lame.. but i do love their good stuff and there's plenty of it

shout out to you for the zep tune! that's the real slow haunting one isn't it. with that eerie repeated breakdown thing.. i think 'bring it on home' has been my favorite for too long now so i i'll change it. it'll be from physical grafitti: custard pie, in the light, or down by the seaside, love all 3!

p.s. i didn't see THAT much sabbath on this topic and, gasp, no motorhead at all??

_Leatha_Face_ 01-15-2004 11:53 AM

OMG YOUR ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!!

(see the "top 5 most hated bands" thread;) )

knife_fight 01-22-2004 06:59 AM

the 5 bands I'm listening to right now are:

1. the Pogues
2. Nebula
3. Magnetic Fields
4. American Nightmare
5. Mastodon

I listen to all types of music though, and I seriously mean that. from black metal to old country to hip hop, I like it all.
AFI, though, I just can't take them seriously. They change their sound according to what is selling at the time and every cd sounds different from the last. Not that a band changing its sound is bad, but when you do it to cater to whatever is selling, that's just fucked. There are lots of bands that have been mentioned on here that I don't take seriously though, so I don't know why I'm singling out AFI...

ChaoticMinister 01-22-2004 08:14 AM

Hrmm...

Just a bunch of my favorite Bands... No particular order (aside from Led Zeppelin, which has to be my Number 1 because of Stairway to Heaven, Bron Y Aur Stomp, and Trampled Underfoot)

Led Zeppelin
Rage Against the Machine
Nirvana
White Zombie/Rob Zombie
Deep Purple
System of A Down
Audioslave
The Prodigy
Daft Punk
Moby
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jimi Hendrix (Experience)
Metallica (Very early stuff)
The White Stripes
Jet

Hrmm...

Can't think of anything else that's really significant in my mind...

Ah well...

*FADE OUT*

Wait... Late addition! DOKKEN!!!!! (Gag-band... had to add them... If you know them, you'll get it...)

do you like peter gabriel by himself or w/ genesis? i personally like phil colins w/ genesis better. gabriel is better by himself.
i saw aerosmtih ths summer in concert w/ kiss. i was disappointed w/ aerosmith. they didn't play many hits and they played more of there new album thats coming out thats more blues. no janies got a gun or angel. i was disappointed and there prices for merchandise was really high IMO. aerosmith is great i like there stuff from the 80s better then what they realeased recently.

all and all your just an other brick in the wall.....:D my fav pink floyd song

Sam The Egg 01-22-2004 07:21 PM

I'm torn on Pink Floyd's best song, either Comfortably Numb or Wish You Were Here. Although In The Flesh is fun to play in public and watch people react to him wanting to shoot all the Jews and Coons.

Aerosmith was definately better when they were starting out, but some of their later stuff was great, too. Pump, Permanent Vacation and Get a Grip especially.

And Peter Gabriel owns Phil Collins' pretentious ass.

i was talking about aerosmiths more recent stuff from like just push play. it was good but not as good as stuff like pump or get a grip.

both gabriel and collins r good. i like gabriel better by himself

Sam The Egg 01-22-2004 07:32 PM

Just Push Play and Rock and a Hard Place are their weakest albums IMO. JPP had 3 good songs, and I'd be hard pressed (no pun intended) to find a song I like on Rock and a Hard Place. But, completist I am, I bought it anyways. But I'm not getting all these compilation albums they're putting out. What is it, like 3 a month now?

something like that. you right about just push play. i on;y like 3 songs off of it and its not really a strong album for them. nine lives ia also a good album

Sam The Egg 01-22-2004 08:10 PM

9 Lives is one of the few albums that I listen to pretty much all the way through. It and The Wall are the only ones I can think of.

Dreaming Girl 02-04-2004 10:23 PM

Has to be a top 10 for me.

- Skinny Puppy
- Kraftwerk
- Tori Amos
- Haujobb
- Forma Tadre
- Covenant
- Therion
- PIG
- Bel Canto
- ... rotates depending on my mood, but could include The Doors, Delerium, Illuminate, Pink Floyd, Leonard Cohen, J.A. Seazer, SPM...

Arioch 02-04-2004 10:28 PM

Im a BIG tori fan, our band covers "winter". Skinny Puppy is cool too. I really like that song Pig did with the knife samples in it. Its a remix i think but it has a fuckin killer bassline, and those samples do own. Havent heard much of their other shit tho, ive only heard that one album.

Yeah... "Blades". It's one of my favorite PIG songs. The original on The Swining anyway... which also has an alright KMFDM remix, and then there's the remix on Wrecked which... eh, I don't really like. I adore Raymond Watts though. PIG obviously, but also his stuff with KMFDM. I'm not a huge fan of KMFDM... but Raymond's songs generally kick ass (like "Disobedience" from Nihil).

Agreed. Not a huge fan either, while i can still appreciate their stuff and originality.

I love some of pigs shit tho. And ill agree that "blades" is one of the best songs. I gotta download that.
