Personally I was a huge comic book nerd when I was like 10 and then somewhere in middle school and high school I lost interest, I still liked the characters but I stopped buying comics, I wish I hadn't b/c then I could have gotten Ultimate Spider-Man #1 which is worth close to $1,000. Anyways, after X-Men came out I started going back to the comic shop and then recently my budy with all of the Ghost Rider comics got me going with him almost every week and I'm more of a Spider-Man Iron fan so that collection is slowly growing again. I have a decent sized X-Men collection consiting of Gambit's first appearnce, Rogue joining the X-Men, and most of the major events in the Onslaught storyline. So I lost the point of what I was trying to say which was that the movies have gotten people back into or started new readers in comics. However, I think that was a silent goal with Marvel doing all of these movies.

Master 01-25-2007 08:34 PM

I'm not at all interested in comic book stuff; just not for me.

Shadow 01-26-2007 05:39 AM

Cool
I dont know think I started reading comics because of a friend and because of the films. Dont know why I never did.

I'm not a big McFarlane fan but I will give him credit for drawing Venom first and updating the look of Spider-Man.

I don't have any faith in any video game or comic based movies, looks stupid and full of cg.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 01-27-2007 02:40 PM

honestly, I really like nicholas cage... When he plays that one character that he can play well.

Amen!!!!!!!!!

This movie's been 'on the verge' of coming out forever. I like Nick Cage, but as a super hero? I just can't see it.

I'll still have to give this one a watch though.

I read in USA Today that they're making Silver Surfer, too.

newb 01-28-2007 06:16 AM

From the trailer it looks more like a comedy.

not that they were popular or made money or anything ;)

I was able to see Nick playing a biker after seeing him in Gone in 60 Seconds b/c for me I'm seeing this not as a superhero movie but more of an action biker cult movie. I mean how many superheroes make deals with the devil to get their powers?

Good point. Maybe it's just cuz he's wierd, like Christopher Walken wierd. I couldn't see him as an action hero either.

Shadow 01-29-2007 07:15 AM

Cage tends to play a similar character in most fims he does but I would like to see him in this. I would like to see him do it well but I guess we wont really know until we go see it. I think I am excited about watching this film though.

he pretty much has to fit that mold

yea I agree. Meh I like most films he does because they are good films he just happens to as you said fit the mold of the character.

The production is completely up in the air with no indication of moving forward. I've been tracking it closely (still trying to get the job) and even read an early draft of the screenplay that was funny, but weak.

Craziest part of the script was Carl Lucas taking the name "Cage" from a movie theater marquee playing Nick Cage move. I laughed pretty hard at the reverse engineering on that one.

Prelude95Si 02-11-2007 06:06 AM

So I was at Wal Mart the other day and noticed that there is a Vengence action figure for this movie. At first I thought maybe Vengence might be in this movie, but then I thought that would be too much for one movie.

But does anyone have any thoughts on a possible Vengence story in the future?

VampiricClown 02-11-2007 06:23 AM

@Prelude
Vengence was a much cooler charcter than Ghost Rider, but I don't know if there is.

Personally, I think this movie is going to suck. Nicolas Cage just isn't the superhero type.

can't get enough gore 02-11-2007 07:19 AM

we dont know that yet do we????

I disagree. For starters GR is an anti-hero. Second, Cage stated that he had a big comic book collection with a lot of GR, this collection was stolen evetnually though. Lastly, I recall reading or hearing an interview with Cage where he stated that he has a GR tatoo. So all those factors alone qualify Cage to play this part.
Besides after I saw Cage in Gone in 60 Seconds I am able to see Cage in a leather jacket in a car or on a motorcycle.

I think you might agree with me in that GR is a better pick for Cage than Superman.

*nods in agreement*

Give a guy a chance he might pull it off. Besides I would quite like to see Cage as a bad biker dude in a leather jacket lol.
