Fairy tales= Snow White, Little red ridding hood, Hansel and Gretal ec. ect.

They used to be alot darker than the wayyyyyyy watered down Disney versions they've become today.

Yep, if you're confused, that is always the right answer. :p

Austin is right, fairy tales were brutal morality tales.

They were used to scare kids into acting right. And some were just dark folklores.

ItsAlive75 09-17-2005 11:12 AM

In the original Hunchback of Notre Dame, he and the girl were both hunted down and killed at the end.

... but it still had those lovable singing gargoyles.

So how did the real "Hans and Gretel" end? :(

i remember recoding my own fucked up version of it on a tape recorder when i was 4. It had several versions of the ending. 1st version: Dad greets them and says "mom is dead". 2nd: Dad greets them and says "Grandma is dead". 3rd: Dad greets them and says "Grandpa is dead".

Wonder why i bothered??

Never strucked me as scary though?

I honestly couldn't accurately tell ya, it's been a long time since I've read any of 'em. I remember what I've told you because I did a project on it in high school.

Well, im pretty sure they manage to burn the witch in her owen and escape the pancake house. And then when they get home their dad greets them in the door way and tells them that mom is dead, for some reason?

Do you think their mom was the witch?

Thats would be fucking deep for a childrens story. Almost Asianish.:D

The stepmother was the one that wanted the dad to send the children off into the woods to get lost...She told their dad that they couldn't afford to keep them, and didn't have enough food to feed everyone, so they had to get rid of the kids...Remember?

Selfish, narcissistic, cold-hearted, greedy bitch

She was also very jealous of the kids because of how much her husband loved them...That was the REAL reason she wanted to get rid of them...

I SAID she was a bitch...

The witch only wanted to eat the children...Although, in SOME variations of the story, the stepmother was BOTH...But, in those renditions, the kids didn't kill her when they got home, cuz they had already killed her in the oven...So, when they got home, the dad was all alone...

In the original, the dad realized what she was up to WHEN- after the kids killed the witch and came back home...The stepmother saw that they were back, and not dead, and she wanted to kill them herself...The dad was protecting them by killing the stepmom...

At first, when they sent off the kids, the stepmom was crying, telling the dad that they had no choice, and that the kids might be found and adopted by someone that could feed them...She acted like it was the best thing to do for the kids...She even convinced the dad that if he REALLY loved his kids, he would do this for them, because he truly could not feed them, and didn't want to see them starve...

He knew something wasn't right when the kids came back, and the stepmom was majorly pissed and flew into a rage...

Are you seldomly happy because you're sad a lot, or are you seldomly happy because you want to find inner calm and balance the waters of your sublime consciousness?

yes

Haunted 09-17-2005 03:41 PM

Then you're right on track. Just don't let any sadness overrun your sublime consciousness. Keep the sorrow in it's place. It helps you remember the four Nobles, and once you've got the hang of that, you can negate suffering.

So true. On the other hand, morality tales like Struwwelpeter. (Shockheaded Peter)-defnitely disturbing, yet fascinating.
