There is no reason why not.

*thinks to self* i should make this into a once a month thing....*ponders her new idea*

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:37 AM

To broaden the tastes of yourself and your guests, why not try a horror through the ages night?

Start out with the Old time Silent movie, Nosferatu (1922). Keep going down the timeline to Night of the Living Dead (1969). Skip a few more years to Halloween (1979), or The Shining (Same year). Finish the night with one of todays best entrys in the genre, Id suggest Jeepers Creepers, Dog Soldiers, or The Bone Snatcher.

Commence with Van Helsing. Follow with Underworld, then The Mummy remake. Then on a much more horrorific note, close with Dog Soldiers.

Don´t forget Resident Evil 1 & 2. ;)

They both suck!

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:44 AM

A night of book based classics, anyone?

Psycho would be a good starter, followed by Silence of the Lambs. Finish with what are considered two of the scariest movies of all time, The Exorcist, then The Shining.

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:50 AM

Hmm....How bout Sweet Revenge?

Start with Theatre of Blood, Followed by the very similar Abominable Dr. Phibes. Keep going with House on Haunted Hill ['99 version preferably], and finish with Dr. Phibes Rises Again!

Modern Monsters, anyone?

Commence with Jeepers Creepers. Follow up with The Bone Snatcher then the massiivly underrated They. Finish with Dog Soldiers:cool:

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 11:04 AM

you sure can think of alot of horror movies The_Return

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 11:16 AM

Ok here's my gut so far:
The Psycho
Evil Dead
The Shining
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
and Chainsaw Prank

So what does evryone think?
Anyone think i should flip them around or change one?
Suggestions for future parties still wanted.....

arron wardlaw 01-23-2005 11:20 AM

i think you should go for the exploding telly instead of the chainsaw prank . far more dangerous

Angra 01-23-2005 11:21 AM

Sounds cool. I´ll come! :D

Or why not just take a kitchen knife and start to hunt down all the guests?

Talk about fun....

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 11:30 AM

i can afford to explode my telly and im not into hunting down my friends with a knife. thats going alittle far for me...but its and intresting idea

just wondering...Why would you reverse them is there a reasoning behind that?

Because Evil Dead is much more extreme the The Shining. I personally would rather watch it later at night. Not saying the Shining isnt an amazing movie though

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 11:59 AM

Oh ok i was asking because i have never seen any of the 4 movies personally so opinions and help is good!

I havnt seen Evil Dead yet, but Ive hered itz very intense/gruesome

Angra 01-23-2005 12:40 PM

But make sure that it´s Evil Dead 2 and The shining with Jack Nicholson and not the new one. Those are far better.

But i would say Evil dead 2 before The shining. The shining is much more scary.

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 03:34 PM

well shouldt we see evil dead before evil dead 2?

Well, Ive yet to see either, but from what I could gather, #2 is more of a remake than a sequel. I personally would rather watch the 1st one before the 2nd though

ClassicHorror 01-23-2005 04:22 PM

2 isn't a remake.

This is what you should watch...

Hellraiser
Un Chien Andalou
Dead Alive
Re-Animator
Evil Dead (save the sequels for another time)

and top it off with............................

The Exorcist 3 (the only film that scared me!)

as you can see I started you off with some fleshy films so that you wouldn't get bored, and toped it off with something scary.

oh....Thanks for clearing that up:)

The_Return 01-24-2005 07:44 AM

Hmm....How bout some great actors, in what would be considered [By me, at least:p] their best roles?

Start with Phantom of the Opera [Lon Cheney]. Contiinue with Pit and the Pendulum [Vincent Price], followed by either the 1931 Dracula w/ Bela Lugosi, or Horror of Dracula, with Christopher Lee. Finish with Kack "Heeeere's Johnny!" Nicholson in The Shining.

For a successfull party of any kind I suggest having lot's of Michelob light, Ammaretto, sweet and sour mix, and for you brave types Jack and Jim on hand at all times. Maybe a few 2 liters of cherry coke

Katelan1089 01-24-2005 05:37 PM

"Evil dead 2" IS more a remake than a sequal, just waaaay better. You definitely don´t have to see the first one before the second. In fact i advice you not to. Trust me. ;)

EXTR3MIST 01-25-2005 02:25 PM

The sequel tones down the horror present in Evil Dead and substitutes farcical, but effective, scenes instead.

Kids seem to prefer the sequel, adults the original.
