Romero is dead against CGI. I'm sure for shots that are impossible otherwise, he'll use it, but I believe all blood, guts and gore will be done the old fashioned, and better, way.

Plus Greg Nicotero (Special Effects artist who worked alongside Tom Savini in Day of the Dead) is doing the makeup...which already looks fucking awesome. Also i think the only CGI their gonna use is, as massacreman said, the bridge scene.

Nicotero said that he is thinking of trying to make full body puppets of zombies and take out the puppeteers later while editing..

Thoughts on whether thats a good idea or bad?

No they just did the tounge zombie as a puppet (which was half a body puppet).

They did the standing still zombies though...
