why do you guys seem so proud at watching adult horrors at 4,5,6,7...etc ??
thats completely fucked up !!!!! does anyone out there have a parent that gives a flying fuck ? |

True, but the good thing about seeing horror movies when you´re a kid is, that they can actually scare the crap out of you. When you get older they cant anymore..... Snif, snif... ;) |

i know what you're saying but i'm not proud of it. my dad just thought it was a movie and that's all i thought it was of course i was freaked out way more than i would've been if i'd have seen it when i was 12 or 13 or whatever the suitable age is. it might have been a little careless on his part but he just honestly thought it was fun to watch horror films and i didn't turn into Jeffrey Dahmer or anything so what's the problem? i know to someone older like you this probably sounds completely naive but it's just my opinion. |

but there are a lot of kids it does affect .. As a parent - i just cant imagine it ... and i am aware of everything my kid watches .. i watch everything with him ... If i'm not sure about something i research it .. I have the largest collection of horror movies of anyone i know .. sooner or later he's going to get exposure to them .. but not until he's had as 'innocent' a childhood for as long as possible .. and at a time where he's demonstarated that he can seperate reality from fantasy .. and can understand why such films would be made (and considered entertainment) I've seen a lot of fucked up people in theatres cheering when 'the girl gets killed' etc .. these kids needed to mature before being exposed to violent imagery... i guarentee most of you - when/if you have a kid someday .. will wonder what the fuck your parents were thinking .. |

I know I saw a lot of horror movies before this, but this one sticks out to me. I was about 4 or so when my dad watched this. It was not a big movie, I know that. There was this blonde girl, and some guy was telling her if she didn't have sex with this mutant thing he would take a saw to her. I just remeber him saying "sex or saw?" a few times, I don't remember what she did. Nice movie for a 4 year old to see huh? Anyway, anyone know what it is?

nobody is probably going to read all that shit so basicly i'm saying urge is right. |

its individual - depends on the maturity level of the kid .. or the sensitivity.. i certainly wouldnt dream of exposing a kid to it until they are 13 - 14 nudity - is no big deal - its natural. but people getting killed as entertainment .... to kids who dont understand the real concept of death ... think about it.. |

Sounds fair enough. :) |
Fuck that. My mom and dad told me they didn't believe in keeping anything from me and every body is telling me im popular and so loved at school. Obviously it didn't affect me. If my kid doesn't wanna watch something that is kid oriented (which I think they are stupid anyway) they shouldnt have to.
I don't dress gothic or anything and I'm outgoing and funny are what people say and I'm fine. If people get affected they should just die seriously that is the most stupid ass excuse I have ever heard.... |
Oh yeah and I'm 17 and DON'T have a kid. I'm saying when i DO have a kid lol.

But you may feel differently once you have them, kids desrve to be kids. |
um ok? Just bc im not gonna shelter my kids. They're gonna see this shit anyway its not a big deal. There is no reason to keep them from stuff thats no gonna happen. I'm gonna be a good parent unlike alot of idiots.

I had a long reply started when i figured that judging by your level of reasoning...you wouldnt understand it. I hope you mature some day to the point where your realize how wrong everything in this post is. I'm glad that at 17 you think anything kid oriented is stupid ... jesus h christ. |

i agree that's just stupid i was talking about it in a totally different way but what he said is just plain irresponsible and dumb. |
My favorite and first movie I ever watched was Halloween with Michael myers, I was 3 years old and I just fell in love with horror when I was 3. I guess Im a huge fan of Halloween but I wanted to try to do something new with ShaunoftheDead but Im missing Halloween.

4 year olds dont understand people ripping their faces off ... children being lost into TV sets, bodys springing from the ground. At 4 kids dont understand a lot. there is no sense scaring the fucking shit out of a small child before they understand how things work. I have seen simple things scare kids ... loss, being alone, etc .. these things have a great impact on children ... sure they'll get over it sooner or later .. maybe it wont bother them at all .. is it worth the risk ? |

but my little cousin watched it he said he didn't want to watch tv any more i said "it only happens when you sit too close" |

I mean I don't totally agree with completely sheltering a child, because I think that later on in life when they do find out about certain things they go hog wild with those things, as apposed to a kid that has be exposed to stuff at an early age...Now I'm not talking about sex or drugs or any of that stuff...There is a certain age or maturity level that kids should be taught about those things.... But taking away the innocence of a childs youth is def. not the thing to do...I mean cmon you're only a kid for a short while of your life...Let them cherish those years while they can, be it with "kid oriented' things as you say or whatever... A lot of the problem with a lot of kids today is that their parents don't talk to them, they stick a game controller in their hand or plop them down in front of the damn television, which is fucking retarted... On another note being popular and being loved at school is for the fucking birds, for one thing do you really think 99.9% of the people that you are so loved by are gonna give two shits about you when you leave there? I can pretty much answer that for ya...Fuck no.. They are gonna be worried about, college, working, maybe starting families of their own, or just plain out being a fucking bum for lack of a better term...believe me I've seen it... Hopefully you will wisen up as you get older... If not I hope you have a vasectomy in the near future... |
i wanna be a bum

thats the key right there. the term 'lost innocense' doesn't mean the loss of one's virginity .. it refers to the loss of the child ... the few precious years where you dont have the weight of the world on your shoulders .. where you dont yet experience the pain and filth and dissapointments of life (along with the good) why expose them to horror and death and pain now ? let them have fun being kids for the short few years that they have ... someone else will rob them of it sooner or later .. |
Whoah i didnt mean to put it like im gonna make them watch that stuff but if they wanna watch im gonna let them.
And as far as them not having fun with death and pain and such. You do, whats the dif if a kid likes it. I did when I was little. Just the horror aspect i love it not every kid is gonna be the same. I dont have to be a parent to kow about kids, I was one myself, as you were. I'm gonna make sure they have a good life. But saying that they shouldnt watch horror movies just bc they are bad doesnt make much sense. That is how the world works they are always afraid. The whole blame horror movies, bands, video games. That is so dumb. I mean, I'm not gonna even mention horror movies to my kid until he/she wants to know. If they don't like them thats up to them. if they do. I'm not gonna stop them unless it gets bad..... |
Quote:
you dont have to hit a kid for it to be child abuse. |
Yes I agree with you 100% urgeok. It's not just the kids it is also the parents. They need to know what is going on. My parents let me play M rated games watch horror movies and I am fine. It's not that they were bad parents, they knew what was goin on and they trustes me and I appreciate them for that. My parents are the best in the world IMO of course lol. And also in no way, shape or form am I going to push anything on them. I'm just going to give them freedom. Not ALL freedom but enough,

I think
it was a television movie called The Midnight Hour. I remember one scene where a black vampire chick killed a distant relative in a wine cellar. The first on video tape may have been the original Nightmare on Elm Street and I think the first on television was Friday the 13th part 3. A local ABC station in Northwest TN. ran it as simply "Friday the 13th" one Halloween night.
|
Cat's eyes when I was six
|
7 during a sleepover at my friends house, we watched Xtro and A Nightmare On Elm Street 3.
|
I was 7 and I saw Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3 at the theatre with my best friend because it was her birthday.
|
I can't remember which I saw first, probably Part 2 but Friday the 13th Part 2 and 3 both scared the bejesus out of me when I was like 7 or 8. Of course Hee Haw probably scared me the most at that age but thats another story.
