...and a year and a bit later, I've pretty near finished off that set. I think theres oly like 10 left that I havent watched. Now I have my eye on aother set from the same company...basically the same thing, only different, more recent films. Heres some info:

Chilling Classics - 50 Movie Set

Get ready for a gut-wrenching journey into terror and madness that is strewn with bloody corpses and rocked by terrifying creatures in a relentlessly horrific universe. Find humanity transformed into fast food in Peter Jackson's (Lord of the Rings) early feature Bad Taste and a world of terror in Dr. Tarr's Torture Dungeon. Experience exotic demons in the star-studded Gothic and mind-numbing terror in Driller Killer. Meet a bloodthirsty Santa Claus in Christmas Evil and a fisherman who is enslaved by two witches in Dead Time Story. Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Yul Brynner, Martin Balsam, Cameron Mitchell, Telly Savalas, Gabriel Byrne, Julian Sands, Natasha Richardson, Ralph Meeker, Joseph Cotten, Patrick O'Neal, Jack Palance and John Carradine. thjere are some good titles in there ..

the only problem is that in these big collections of public domain there is no care given to the quality .. and films like Deep Red deserve a better quality release.

that being said - i'd buy it if the price is right - just to get the other little oddballs that are hard to find.

The other 50 pack that I got from these was actually pretty decent quality, surprisingly enough.

I made a poorly thought out deal with my parents last month, so Im not alowed to buy any movies until April...but I put some money in Paypal and Im ordering this first thing in the morning on April Fools Day.

Looks like a good set. I'm kind of surprised they'd put Bad Taste in a "Chilling" movies set.

Bad Taste was far from a chilling movie.

Bad Taste is one of the main reasons this set caught my eye. Been wanting to see it for ages, but cant find it anywhere but Ebay, where I can get this set for slightly more than the Bad Taste DVD.

As for the title, I think they just wanted something to call it. How chilling could something called "Naked Massacre" be?:p

it was one of the first cheapo tapes you could get also ..
i think i have a beta of it ...

its a mixed blessing - cheap public domain films ... when they are actually good .. they often dont get a decent clean release

The_Return 03-26-2006 09:21 AM

Thanks....it came in a smaller version of one of these public domain sets, had The Blob and Teenage Zombies with it. Easily the best of the bunch, no question, though I enjoyed all three.

crazy raplh 03-26-2006 10:51 PM

I have this set and I have seen all of them love them all.

Hows the quality?

Despare 03-27-2006 10:24 PM

Got my version of Bad Taste from deepdiscountdvd pretty cheap. Anyway...

Driller Killer -- Abel Ferrara
Deep Red -- David Hemmings
Silent Night, Bloody Night -- Patrick O’Neal
Demon, The -- Cameron Mitchell
Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter -- John Lupton
Bucket of Blood, A -- Dick Miller
I Bury the Living -- Richard Boone

I was planning on buying most of these, now that you've shown me this set I think my plans have changed.

urgeok 03-28-2006 01:47 PM

50 movies doesnt look like a lot - typed out like that

The_Return 04-02-2006 12:35 PM

There, Ive officially ordered it:D. Ive bought from this seller before though and his shipping is brutally slow...I should have it in like a month or so:rolleyes:

filmmaker2 04-03-2006 09:41 AM

I have the 50-movie "Sci-Fi Classics" set, and am happy with it for the 20 dollars I paid for it. There's a mixed bunch of stuff, including a few horror films, a lot of cheesy sci-fi, and even some weird stuff like tropical fantasies ("The Wild Women of Wongo" etc.). Heck, there is even a freaking Don Dohler movie in there. That alone is worth five or six bucks. And there's some Larry Buchanan and other stuff. It's craptacular! If you like public domain sets and know the territory and the general quality of these releases, it's good popcorn stuff for a Sunday afternoon.

The_Return 04-16-2006 03:29 PM
