It looks interesting, as was mentioned children in scary movies equals horror at it's worst. (I'm still terrfied of corn fields to this day).

I'll see it whenever it's on DVD and Hollywood video runs the 2for $20 special.

Sam The Egg 10-12-2004 03:14 PM

well, it takes place in Japan so it might not be as Americanized as it could have been

VenomX 10-12-2004 08:56 PM

What is it even about? It looks like just another ghost movie.

allmykids 10-13-2004 05:35 AM

when i first saw the trailer i thought rip off of The Ring....then I looked in deeper and found out it was a remake of Ju:On....which is awwwsome.....but then I saw Sarah Michelle Gellar......and I thought please no dont fuck this movie up....also its a Sam Raimi production....well he presents it which usually sucks also since they did that with craven and those movies sucked....lets just hope this film lives up to what it should....

flabby_man22 10-14-2004 03:08 PM

that crazy crawling rotten chick in the traler does remind me of another crazy rotten chick crawling out of a tv

youshouldvknown 10-16-2004 11:40 AM

the dark haired "rotten chick" is some sort of boogeyman in Japan. I can't remember what she's about, but she's a prominent "scary story figure"... she has a name too, but I don't remember...

haha! I just watched the Children of the Corn last night

Sarah Michelle Gellar being in The Grudge does nothing to ruin it guys, during the last few seasons of Buffy she really came into her own as far as being more serious as an actor. The fact along that the Grudge is based on a japanese horror film, and that it has actually scared some people as they watch the trailer is enough to make it worth a try.

I think It should be great. I just saw behind the scences and it has the same director as JU:ON!!

xI_dork_Ix 10-17-2004 08:02 PM

I know it's based on jap horror stories, but I don't know exactly what the move is about. I think it looks fuckin awesome. < my opinion. I'm not usually into who's acting, I'm more into the story line, plot, and graphics. So "Buffy" doesn't bother me by being in it.

Preacher 10-18-2004 02:56 AM

Just watched Ju-On the grudge and then Jo-on 2 the curse.

Bloody brilliant. Never been so scared in my life.

A must see for all of you (the Jap edn that is)

Shade 10-18-2004 05:59 AM

Ju-On is wonderful so my hopes for this are high. My mother told me is was by the same director which boosted them even higher...though I'm doubtful she's right...

She's right. Ju-On and the remake have the same director. If you can, check out the E! Behind the Scenes. It's pretty good.. has interviews with the director, three of the actors and Sam Raimi.

Basically it's about the superstition that when someone dies in a state of terror and confusion (which, to me, would be an awful lot of people) there's a stain on the environment. Anyone who enters that environment is subject to that grudge and the revenge the deceased person is taking for dying in such an awful way.

It explains it in the trailer.

allmykids 10-22-2004 08:30 AM

OMG,OMG,OMG!! IT starts today!!! I'm I Excited?? HELL YES !!! :D

Arioch 10-22-2004 10:56 AM

Waits for the download.....no way im paying for it...

Karkinos 10-22-2004 07:08 PM

So...did anyone see it yet?

mayoisthedevil 10-23-2004 12:45 AM

just watched it...was pretty good but i hate the ending.

JigSaw 10-23-2004 06:05 AM

It was awsome and the ending was really cool.

Sistinas 10-23-2004 06:23 AM

I'm gunna go see it today, I can't wait!

mayoisthedevil 10-23-2004 01:17 PM

the ending was ok i guess, but it kinda reminded me too much of the ring. but over all a really good movie.

DraculaInDallas 10-23-2004 10:29 PM

Just got back from seeing it. Waste of $8.50, a real yawner. Slow and predictable.....you knew what was going to happen before it happened. All the scenes that were suppose to be scary everyone in the audience was laughing out loud, and after the final scene and the credits started to roll the entire theatre let out a "Oh come on, that's it???????"

There was one scene that reminded me of the 2 weeks I spent last year in Shanghai, China. In the grocery store trying to figure out what the hell stuff was and how much it cost....lol.
Also thought the Japanese Detective's throw back Columbo style trenchcoat was funny!

Anyway, that's my opinion. I guess what some find scary others find lame.....just another disappointment......holding out hope for SAW......:(

Pumpkin Head 10-24-2004 08:45 AM

Hey for all those in the UK and who have sky. The Sci Fi Channel are have a "Do you have a Grudge" weekend on the first week of November (I think it's the 4th or somethng). They are showing the original Japanese films for The Grudge and "for the first time on British TV' they are showing the Ringu trilogy. My husband hates horror films but I'm hijacking the TV for that weekend I can't wait!

Angelakillsluts 10-24-2004 05:43 PM

JDMX 10-24-2004 06:01 PM

I saw it. My take? The story caught my attention. I loved the idea of being killed under extreme circumstances or what have it and a curse is born in place of death driving the victim to seek revenge. I just think it could have been told a little better. I'm not dissapointed though. I liked how it came out and It hit all the right nerves. I havn't been creeped out like that in a while. Hated the ending though. The website is good too.

ShankS 10-24-2004 06:04 PM

I take it you're talking about the Gellar one yeah?? if so, I dont know....aint seen it yet.

If you're on about the proper Grudges, then yeah I did like them, I found the sequals (grudge 2 & curse 2) to be much more creepy than their previous. counteparts.

newb 10-24-2004 07:17 PM

I also have only seen the original version and I did indeed enjoy that. My daughter and son-inlaw just saw the new one and they both liked it.

Sam The Egg 10-24-2004 07:46 PM

one Jeffrey Danke of Topeka, Kansas saw the movie and LOVED it, so you're not alone in your opinion

newb 10-24-2004 07:54 PM

I can vouch for Jeff. He's good people.
