No ending is one of the most frustrating things there is.
They did the same thing with Deadwood. Different degree as with Carnivale though but still.

But anyway, did you read the wiki about Carnivale? It has the show's creator discussing how the series would have gone if it had its full six seasons. Very interesting and unique story.
