The Howling by Gary Brandner and Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells are two of my veeeery favorite books. They're the kind of books that if they were within easy access I would own multiple copies with different editions. (I do this with Call of the Wild and White Fang, non-horrors but two of my favorite books.)
Also love Thomas Harris' Hannibal series.

Moreau is my favorite Wells work and a book I've re-visited several times. Great choice, Roiffalo.

Why thank you, Repo'd! None of the movies do the book justice, although they are still entertaining to watch.

I didn't know Howling was based on a book. Is the book better than the movie?

Hell yes. The first movie and Howling IV: Original Nightmare actually are based off the book. I have no idea where the other movies come from. So far none of them are like the books (going on what I've read about 2 and 3 as I haven't been able to get my hands on them, and what Howling films I've seen... I think I'm missing two).

Anyway I recommend checking it out. 8)
