Because some of those weren't available on dvd or vod until 2014.

And we might need a list of all releases because I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll forget some titles otherwise.

I would say if a movie has a theatrical release in your counry in 2013, then the movie is from 2013. If it doesn't and only comes out on DVD later, in 2014, the movie would be regarded as a 2014 release. But it's totally up to each poster to make that judgement.

As far as lists goes, here's a few I've used.

Yea, I thought it was a decent horror story with a nice pace, good atmosphere and effective scares throughout. But then again, I have a soft spot for ghost flicks.

So I guess you're okay with the 20 clichés, huge plot hole, and the fact that 80% of the movie was spent just talking about the board rather than anything happening? I thought the first 10 minutes were scary, to be honest, but after that, it went off the deep end.

I honestly don't think it had that much dialogue compared to so many other horror movies (especially most found footage shit flicks). It had it's fair share of action throughout the movie, imo. Sure, it had cliche's rammed up its ass, and yes it had several plotholes. But that really doesn't bother me much when the scares works. And I thought they did in this one.

I thought the scariest part was the Insidious 3 trailer.

Yeah...IMO: The year a movie actually become available for general audience worldwide should consider the "year" for that movie. I was thinking about watching Proxy last night, but I couldn't figure out what it was about. Could you give me a synopsis?

Ya, with Roshiq's continued high regard for Proxy, I was gonna check it out too. From his review, as I recall, it's about a pregnancy with super-tech or supernatural elements.

Oh ya, I forgot one top 2014 film I saw...

Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons (2014) -- Highly recommend. Original, funny, good SFX, on Netflix now, 93% Rottentomatoes Critic rating, from director Stephen Chow (Shaolin Soccer/Kung Fu Hustle).
