The set up for further films is also clear. This is indisputable, but there are really no clear answers, and that's also fine because the paranormal is unexplained really. But the plot is simply not cohesive.

It's definitely a stretch, but I found myself being pulled in anyway.:D

I really wanted to be! And I truly tried too.

For instance, remember when Kristi said to Dennis that Toby is tall?
Then behind the babysitter under the sheet he was short? I get that it was supposed to be portrayed as one of the little girls under the sheet but. I just feel it would have been more menacing if it actually were a tall menacing figure behind her instead. Thats just one of the things I noticed

SPOILER ALERTS**

I can definitely see your points on some of the inconsistencies but overall I thought it was an interesting turn of events with the whole satanic cult thing because I really didn't see that coming. I do agree with you on why the mother got killed because that really didn't make any sense it should have just been dennis who got killed but oh well it seems like they are just going to keep molding the story to accommodate more sequels kind of like the Saw franchise. Interesting thoughts though kudos.

I really dug it, I love the way those flicks spend time building suspense because we just don't get a good slow burner anymore. Anyway, I liked this guy's take on 1, 2, 3, and 4.

I cannot seem to get into the whole paranormal activity thing. the raw fottage deal is boring to me. I watch like 30 minutes of each film and fell asleep.

I know of a lot of people who also feel that way.
I know i like it because of its rawness. it makes it feel real to me... well not the necessarily in the case of the PA films because their starting do become monotone. But more so in films like Quarintine or Blair Witch Project.

I can admit that i was creeped out when i first saw these films when this whole technique was new-ish to the film world.

I'm not a huge fan of found footage films but for some reason I really got into the mythos of Paranormal Activity (I think because my wife told me stories when we first got together that remind me of it lol). One of my favorite parts of the PA movies is the low rumbling noise that telegraphs the scares. At first I hated it (I may have even posted about it) but after a while it grew on me for two reasons. 1: It gets you looking, trying to find any small thing going on. Sometimes it's as simple as a swinging light and others they get you with a big jump out.
2: It really reminds me of white noise you hear at night just lying in bed listening to nothing. I dig that.

I completely agree
but not pertaining to these films but when these things happen in everyday life i always find this particularly creepy and when i see some of these things that happen to me in films thats when i just love the movie, i just thought this film hat overly TOO MANY.

but thats just my opinion.
