Wow glad this has finally come out but I think I'll wait for a european release just so I know I won't have any problems getting it to work. Very happy to hear that it is exactly as the initial reports stated and it does actually help you to play songs on your guitar which is exactly what I want it for. Great stuff :)

How do you plug your guitar in?

The game comes with a cable. USB at one end, and 1/4" jack at the other end.

I believe this cable is platform independent, so the cable you get with the console version will also work with the PC version etc.

So the requirement is that the guitar has a 1/4" jack. So an accoustic without a pickup won't work with this game, but an accoustic with a pickup and a jack to plug into an amp will work. But they recommend an electric guitar.

Seriously, who would play such a game with an acoustic guitar? Someone who's gay, that's who.

The trailer makes the game seem quite stressful. Looks like you really need to know your tabs to play it well. Also the way they show the tabs is quite weird. They show it vertical, like in Guitar Hero, but guitarists who are used to practice with tabs are used to practice it horizontal, which makes sense as this is normally the angle you hold your guitar....

You won't see me arguing with that.

Actually, at the bottom of the screen you get a representation of the fretboard that is like tabs (you can even flip it upside down so it is just like a tab).

The notes come down the "highway" to end up on the fretboard at the bottom. It sounds a bit strange, but it actually works well. Watch some Youtubes of it in action.

No, it is mainly rock. There is a lot of crap in the songlist, but there are some good songs. DLC hopefully will bring better variety. At the moment, DLC songs are $2.99 each.
