David Slade to Reboot Daredevil

20th Century Fox has targeted David Slade to helm the studio's reboot of the Marvel property Daredevil. ComingSoon.net has confirmed that, while no deal is in place, Slade is very likely the man for the job.

Though previously adapted by the studio in a 2003 version starring Ben Affleck in the lead, this version of Daredevil will reboot the franchise and will not be connected to the previous Mark Steven Johnson film (or the 2005 spinoff, Elektra).

As reported just over a year ago, Fox needs to have a Dardevil film in production in order to keep the rights from reverting to Marvel Studios (now owned by Walt Disney Pictures).

Slade, who made his feature debut with 2005's Hard Candy, previously tackled a comic book adaptation with 2007's 30 Days of Night. Since that film, he's been in Vampire-mode, turning in last year's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and was, last month connected to the "Dracula" tale, The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

It could be good, the 2003 movie was very good. Tough if they only make this movie to keep the rights then it might have some issues, but if they make a real effort then Daredevil is a good character it should be possible to make another good movie about.

Man - I thought the earlier film was bad..They totally ruined Kingpin. I did like Bullseye (but only cause I love that cheesey fake Irish stuff).

I'd love to a new one abit harder hitting - a film version of "Born Again" would be amazing..

I have to disagree with that. I think Kingpin in the Daredevil movie was spot on. Yes they did make him black, but that is because they found a perfect actor for the part and he was black. A movie with actual actors can not always make a character look exactly like in the comic books or novels or whatever a movie is taken from. But for me Kingpin was perfect, he had the perfect mannerisms and personality of the character.

I loved Bullseye he was good, Electra was okey but got perhaps a little to sweet compared to how the character is presented in the comic books, and Daredevil himself i think was quite good. I really love Daredevil and the movie got me interested in the comic books which I before only had read a few of and Daredevil was a marvel character I did not pay much attention to as I normally go for the superheroes with more impressive super powers, but the movie really did it's job and got me interested in the comics.

As a person who has read the comics for some years prior to seeing the film, that is, Daredevil, The Punisher, and the various Spider-Man titles, in which the Kingpin has played a villain to all, I disagree with your perception there.
He didn't do a BAD job, and I'm not saying this because he was black...but he was nowhere near as sinister as the "real" Kingpin was. Also, he made a few too many wisecracks though wasn't quite condescending enough.

Not really quite as psychotic as I'd have liked, nor did he employ the kind of weapons and tactics as I'd have expected...but he did a fair job.

Agreed on Elektra...just, not the character in any way really...The spin-off movie came a little closer, but still, not really...

A better film would be a darker film.
Bullseye WOULD be a good villain to focus on, they'd just really need to get him right this time. Also daredevil, should probably talk a whole lot less.
A darker film is what they need.

I have read allot of Spiderman, so while I was not overly familiar with Daredevil I was familiar with Kingpin. I am not saying you are wrong but I can not really remember the comics as so much darker than the movie when it came to Kingpin's character. Yes there where not so many sarcastic remarks but then there are not that many scenes where Kingpin is on screen.

As for Bullseye, I think they managed a balance, a very crazy character which work in a comic book is very hard to do on film without him getting goofy. I think perhaps that if they had made Bullseye more crazy then he would not be believable. There are not that many actors who can play crazy and get it creepy and not goofy.

I do not belong to the crowd that think everything is better if it is darker. Not that I dislike dark movies, but darker is not necessarily better, and when it comes to comic book movies I prefer them a bit adventurous and fun instead of them being to dark and depressing, especially when it is superhero movies.
