The Michael Caine Ripper movie is great in my opinion but the Johny Depp flic was awful, but thats my view.

I was wondering what that Michael Caine flick would be like. The cover it has over here made it look totally shit ("Shouldn't judge a book by it's cover" yeh yeh I know) and I just forgot about it. Might give it a look sometime.

Its a really great movie and the build up to the end of the film is awesome, directed by David Wikes who also directed Michael Caine in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

I've seen "From Hell" and that's about it out of what you guys have mentioned...I thought that was a pretty solidly made film, though I'm not really too interested in the subject matter I guess...

Now, for all I know this COULD be a completely shitty suggestion but I remember seeing it at random on late night TV when I was about 12-13 and being pretty enthralled. A movie set in the (then) modern day, starring James Spader called "Jacks Back" - I can't remember EXACTLY what it was about though I seem to recall a diary being found, something to do with twins and potential descendant/s of the ripper...obviously it's a little offbeat compared to some of these films and maybe more at home next to the HG Wells one, but yeah now that I've thought about it, I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
I thought I'd mention it in the event that any of the enthusiasts had not seen it, at very least at the time I saw it I found it an interesting spin on the idea.

Totally forgot about Jack's Back. I remember really liking that when I saw it years ago. It's weird I've never run into a tape of it since. Think I'll grab a "backup copy" of it this week :D

Well if you find one, let me know - I couldn't.
