I'm sure that it was completely laughable, but it was very convincing for a 5 year old, so much so that I remember having dreams about giant spiders for a long time afterwards. And Eight Legged Freaks is a serviceable spider movie.

Eight Legged Freaks was awesome, and one black and white Spider film that scared the crap out of me was Larger Than Life, an Australian short that was featured on the Eight Legged Freaks DVD. The bit where it's on his back. <shudder> |
