You guys seen the trailer for Bad Lt yet? Looks like a fuckin' stinker.

It's getting rave reviews pretty much across the board.

This film looks like nothing but lightweight American Pie bullshit compared to the original but everyone will lap it up and call it art because of the names involved.

Can't believe the shit Herzog said about Abel Ferrara especially the "Who's that?" deal..... pretty fuckin' arrogant.

I guess it'll appeal to the people that liked the US version of Funny Games and give hipsters shit to talk about by the water cooler. "Did you see what Herzog did with that NY B-movie.... AMAZING!"

in the interview Herzog was pretty funny in person ...
he gives off that German arrogance vibe but he seems like he's joking when he does it - so his Ferrara comment may have been taken a little out of context.

My friend Chris who reviewed the film (and also interviewed Nicholas Cage) loved the film.

You're probably quite right there. I wouldn't have a problem with this film if it had a different title.

Herzog was pretty funny in Harmony Korine's flicks

What the hell does that have to do with anything? The director re-did his own movie and you're saying it's completely inferior? Why? Because there aren't any subtitles and you can pretend the foreign acting was better if you don't know any better?

Herzog's the man... who else gets shot and still continues with the interview? BA

Elvis_Christ 09-20-2009 06:20 PM

Its a pointless remake that more people will end up watching than the original was what I was getting at. It's inferior because it was a rehash with less convincing actors... Michael Pitt sucked.

Why were they less convincing?

People watching a foreign film who do not speak the language the film was shot in, often misinterpret the acting because they're not getting all the nuances of the speech. This sometimes leads to folks believing a performance is better than it is.

I also love the fact that you're convinced it's a pointless remake even though the writer and director felt otherwise.

Well if the writer and director felt otherwise I really should change my opinion

Arno Frisch gave more menace to the role and I thought the more unknown actors (well to me) as the family gave it a bit more punch and I felt more empathy towards them.

That's pretty condescending.
