Oh yeah! I was going to post about this, but you beat me.

I just took advantage of it earlier today. Picked up:

Three Films by Hiroshi Teshigahara (I've been waiting forever to pick this one up.)
Jigoku
The Seventh Seal reissue
La Jetee/Sans Soleil

I highly, highly, HIGHLY reccomend you pick up Viridiana. It's only $15, it's a great starting point for the director. It's creepy, funny, grotesque, absurd, surreal, blasphemous...your money would be well spent, and you'd be on your way to discovering the work of one of the cinema's all-time geniuses!

Seconded!!!

The only one I'll be picking up for sure is Eyes Without a Face, been dying to see that one for way too long.

Mwa-ha! Let me know what you think!

Good chance for you to check out Clean, Shaven too, man - if you've got room in the cart for another, I think you'd really dig it.

Seconded!!!

is this just on-line only ?

Papillon Noir 07-15-2009 08:31 AM

I think I may do Eyes Without a Face and The Third Man, maybe Viridiana.

Okay, I finally went through the whole list (not just the bestsellers) and here's my list:

Definitely getting to replace VHS copies:
Black Narcissus
Chungking Express
Eyes Without a Face (I actually don't have this on VHS, but this is a must buy)

Ones I would like to get, but it's a long list:
The Last Emperor
The Virgin Spring
The Third Man
Time Bandits
Grand Illusion
8 1/2
M
The Red Shoes
Viridiana

Any suggestions on the "like to get" list? I have yet to see (but I know they're good) Virgin Spring, M, and only parts of the Red Shoes. Also, it's been a long time since I've seen Grand Illusion and 8 1/2, though I remember I liked them (though not why).

Out of your "like to get" list, I'd say the must-owns are:

The Virgin Spring
8 1/2
M
Viridiana
and probably even The Red Shoes.

Nope.

On my way home from work today I stopped in my local store and got the very new release of Last Year at Marienbad for a baffling $20. They weren't even offering this one for half-off online because its such a recent release. I'm pretty sure I squealed out loud the moment I saw it.

Pap- I agree with Fortunato (with a heavy emphasis on Viridiana). I would also recommend from your list La Grande Illusion.

Oh, and Fort- how much did you get the Seventh Seal reissue for? I'm picking that up later this week.

I'm pretty sure it was 29.99, so not even $15 after using my BN Member card.

Amazing!

I'll be going back soon, and/or perhaps ordering some stuff online.
