I sent in five. I've never really been a big fan of asian horror films. I don't like reading subtitles and when they're badly dubbed I just can't stop laughing.

I think we would HAVE to include anime as it's very influential in the sub-genre of Asian horror and in Asian culture. I would say we should stick to movies and not series but many anime series do have a movie or two associated with them. It would be a travesty to leave a film like Perfect Blue or Akira (I'm not a huge Akira fan but it's SO important to the sub-genre) out of this list (and no, those aren't the only anime films I'd deem worthy to be on the list).

A personal favorite of mine is "A Chinese Ghost Story" from 1986...the first in the series, and the best of that series. A very fine attempt at making a film that is like a folk tale/fairytale, with a diverse mixture of elements. Someone lent it to me in the mid-90's and I think I watched it five or six times in a row, it was so much fun.

Strictly Asian.

Like Des said, it plays a really big part in Asian horror. So it will be imperative to add in any brilliant animated flicks like Perfect Blue to the mix.

Wonderful rec, Crabby. Please think of some more and send me a list. I think this will be a very interesting 100 to compile, seeing the diversity of Asian horror transcends just about all sub-genres of the main Horror genre.

Are Filipino films included? Because everyone knows I am a big fan of "Mad Doctor of Blood Island," that is a drive-in horror classic.

Sure. Any Asian horror flick which is a cult classic should have its own space in this compilation.

On a side note, are we going to do a compiled 100 (listed alphabetically) or going for a countdown Top 100 (ala the HDC Top 100 list)?

If the former, we will need Judges and plenty of comprehensive lists with good recs. In the case of the latter, please be sure of sending in your list of flicks in the order of your favorites in it - from your most favorite Asian horror flick, and second fav, so on...downwards.

I'll like to prefer the 2nd one, on the countdown basis but it'd nice to see a comprehensive list of good recs. also with that.

Though Despare picked a strong point but the sad thing is I haven't seen much of Asian Animes to recommend.:o :(
