Hey that sucks.

My idea is much cooler and deeper.

And more sad.

It's actually much more sad and disturbing if he meets her as an adult with her only being 12....

You mean Pedaphile disturbing?

But if the old dude had been around 12 when he met her you'd see a pattern in the end when the blond boy becomes her protector. And that to me is sad as hell. Don't you agree?

Yes, he's a pedophile. I'm surprised this isn't in the movie as it was pretty prominent in the book.

Yes, that is sad as it would be just a vicious cycle. I'm only about 2/3 through the book, so I'm interested to see how it turns out.

No, worries. You didn't spoil anything for me. :) I'm actually planning to see it this weekend.

OK, you guys have me stoked to see this. I just added it to my "Saved" queue at Netflix.

I would have liked to see this side of their relationship developed as well. But of course, it's way too controversial. I think that since the question of... SPOILERS AHEAD:

... Eli's gender is already a controversial point, especially the scene when we actually see that she isn't really a "she", exploring the actual relationship between her and her caretaker would have been taking it overboard.

People would have focused more on this, rather than the beautiful relationship between the two leads. I really want to read the book. Going by the film alone, it must be a great read.

I think I'll buy the book too. I'm in need of a good read.
