Not as good as the classics or some of the zombie flicks suggested so far but some fairly decent zombie flicks I saw recently -

Dance of the Dead
Flight of the Living Dead

Definitely check out Cemetery Man and Rec if you haven't already.

Watched this one a while back....low budget ...starts a bit slow...but once it takes off its pretty sick.

BONE SICKNESS

If you like gore....this one has it

if you're looking for plot......don't bother

Even though you said you'd seen the romero stuff, there may be some things you didn't know in the series of films following Night of the Living Dead. I can see you don't know too much (not a criticism, many don't), about the series as you credited as the Romero Trilogy, when actually Romero has been responsible for Five films in that line.

Night of the living dead.

That then branched into two lines of sequels. This is because Russo, who wrote the book and aided the script, and Romero who directed the film split ways. Russo kept the rights to having "living dead" in the title, while Romero could make any others of his own. As there are so many odd things I'll make a key.

Red = George A Romero Line
Blue = Russo Line
Purple = Unofficial Sequel/ Prequel.

The George A Romero sequel line -

Dawn of the Dead

There were then two sequels to this, one official, one not. The unofficial ones being

Zombi 2 which was followed by three more sequels, in that line.

Zombi 3

Zombie 4

Zombi 5

But back to the Romero line-

Day of the Dead (Official Sequel to Dawn of the Dead).

This was followed by two seperate films, one an official sequel, one an unofficial prequel. The Unofficial Prequel was -

Day of the Dead 2: Contagium

And once again, back to the Romero line with the official sequel.

Land of the Dead

Diary of the Dead (Described as a "Re-establising" of the series. It alters the myth slightly, bringing the undead rising into modern times. But don't confuse it as a remake.

Russo+ Series. This series altered things a bit, making the zombies slightly more intelligent, having them occasionally speak, they can run, and instead of hungering for meat in general, they want BRAINS! Russo made the first sequel, then others did the rest.

Return of the Living Dead

Return of the Living Dead Part 2

Return of the Living Dead 3

Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis

Return of the Living Dead: Rave from the Grave

There are a few duds in there, a few have been remade etc. I'd say try 'em all if you get the chance. I've yet to see quite a few in there, I just know of them. Now that I've written it down, it's a pretty complicated line, with a starting film, two lines of sequels branching from that, and then another branch of sequels coming from one of the other branches.

Dead Alive? Is that also known as Braindead? DA being the US title and BD being UK/Aussie?

Do yourself a favor and keep it that way. That flick is total shit! Made by the idiots who brought you Creepshow III :D

Yes, it does seem terrible. I'd watch it just so I can say I've seen it.

Are all the romero's worth a buy? I have "night" and "dawn". Will there be new editions of "day" and "land" or "diary" out?
