Sounds like what a few people I've talked to it about have seen. I'll track it down and have a look for myself anyways cuz I dug his other flicks and wanna see Keifer Sutherland back in action.

The weaknesses that you identified I was pretty concerned would ruin the film (not going to lie - when I first saw the ads I thought the movie was going to be awful; it was the director who turned it around for me). Since I pretty much trust your taste implicitly, I'll save my money and rent it instead.

Elvis - Let me know what you think about the original... From what I understand, Mirrors takes the concept as opposed to doing an all-out remake. However, I am starting to adore Korean horror, so let me know if it's worth checking out.

I have seen the original lately & it was pretty good. Though somewhat disappointed with the final climax at the store but I love the last scene of the film. From the trailer of Aja's version it looks quite different. Probably Aja has done some extensive work with the story and now it seems that wouldn't go well.
