More brutal than High Tension? Wow, I'll have to look out for that.

In my opinion yes, especially toward the end.

As far as French action goes, Leon and District B-13 are two of my favorites.

I also didnt mind "The Red Siren" and "The Code". There were a few good serial killer ones as well which I will have to try to remember.

Inside I actually really want to see. It's currently on my Netflix queue. I thought that High Tension was predictable and incredibly overrated. I'm hoping that Inside lives up to the hype that I've read about.

i'm a big fan of french films and enjoyed High Tension - looking forward to these two as well!

So I finally saw Inside.

And... Wow.

This is the most disturbing horror movie that I've seen that is not from Asia... But believe me that's a compliment. This is the third French film that I've seen, following High Tension (which I thought was overrated with a predictable twist that ultimately made no sense and felt contrived) and Them (which I thought was a fantastic suspenseful film).

Inside is a well-made slasher that definitely borderlines on the exploitative (as most slashers do), using a particularly pathetic and vulnerable victim, a pregnant woman. The movie is fierce, bloody, gory, tortured, and genuinely disturbing. This movie is fierce. This is a fantastic slasher, for those who love slashers. I give it an A-/A.

Hey Chronogirl... if you can (I don't know if it was released over there or what), you should give Malefique a try. I found this little horror film very disturbing and creepy. It's a simple premise that surprisingly delivers a lot. And it made me feel all dirty after watching it. :p

I'm going to watch INSIDE tonight....if all goes as planned

Nice. I've just added it to my Netflix queue.

There's also Frontier(s) that's supposed to be pretty fantastic. It's not released until next week, but also on my Netflix queue.

Liked Frontiere(s), but preferred Sheitan which is pretty much in the same vein. Vincent Cassel is, for once, over the top but in a good way. It's a pretty gross film as well.
