Executives are wrong. I would love another Predator standalone film.

Silly executives.

Also, thumbs up to an Alien 5.

The space jockeys are what are supposed to have created the xeonmorphs as a bio-weapon, or at least discovered and used them as such.

GREAT news that Cameron is on board for the new Alien. Would have preferred Ridley Scott, but still.

This would definitely be awesome if Cameron was back on board.

It doesn't look like his schedule has been very busy as of late.

David Fincher would be another good choice, although I doubt he would be too hot on making another Alien film after Alien 3.

Good god. Please do not have Sigourney Weaver in this. Please, please, oh fucking hell please.

Ripley died at the end of Aliens3. Quite spectacularly in her vomit and bile rising "Jesus Christ pose" drop into a fiery inferno. Done deal. Or so it should have been. Then she's back in the horrid, horrid Alien: Resurrection through one of the most ridiculous plot twisting manipulations this side of a daytime soap opera. Why? Why? Why? I would be willing to wager that the vast majority of people do not watch the Alien movies for Ripley. They watch them for...

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

Aliens!

Oh and the space marines too. (Yeah, but it's a dry heat!) :D

So please, if Aliens5 (probably marketed as Alien5 to get that geeky, nerdy hax0r demographic) does actually get made, let's just have it be Space Marines, Aliens, the Navigator's race, and random humans we've never seen before. Please. Pretty please with cherries on top.

Yeah but if there is no Ripley then that would mean it would basically be just like another AVP just without the Predators and to me that is boring. It needs to have a kick ass female lead.

Doesn't need to be Ripley, though. Weaver is getting older, and the character should have been allowed to die gracefully, but resurrection screwed that up.

Give Jim Cameron the lead, and you could easily have a Ripley-free alien movie with a strong female lead. ALL of his movies have strong female leads. And he has never made a bad movie (that he wrote, anyway)

Okay I should have wrote Ripley-esque type of character.

There *can* be a great Alien movie without Ripley. It may take some actual concentration and creativty, but it can be done.

Cameron is our man.

It's hard to imagine an Alien movie without Ripley. And I mean Sigourney, not some other actress. if you're going to cast someone else, then leave Ripley out of it, or it would just be weird.

I love the Alien saga and I didn't think Ressurrection sucked. At all. And I don't watch the movies for the aliens only, I watch them for the characters as well. You can't have a bunch of teens running like crazy in front of some bad ass aliens and expect to make a good movie - like what happened in AVP 2. You need strongly built characters.

So... I would go for Sigourny, as Ripley, again. Or if you must change, make it a male character, but cast someone decent and not one of those cheap I've-never-seen-this-guy-before actors.

Anyways this is grrrrreat news, can't wait :)
