I guess stallone threw the old idea out the window. This one's way better. Apparently it was the original script for Rambo before he changed it.
from IMDB

"Rumors say the script will follow the original one written by Stallone for Rambo (2008), in which Rambo finds out he has a daughter and she has been kidnapped by a hostile cult, from which Rambo must rescue her."

kidnapped by a hostile cult?
you know this will be good.

It better be a HUGE cult... we need a good body count for this one!

word! I was thinking the same thing.

Its quite a strange approach for a Rambo film.
Hope it goes back to the One Man Army approach, he strayed away from it a little bit in the latest one for realistic effect...didnt make too much of a difference though, he still kicked a good amount of ass.

Not necessarily

lots of films set in the USA are shot elsewhaere and the Bulgarian countryside doens't look a whole lot different from anywhere in the mid Appalachians

Mickey Rourke's post-Oscar nomination dance card is filling up fast, including a turn in director Sylvester Stallone's next film The Expendables.

Now the British tabloids are suggesting that Rourke and Stallone may reunite for the fifth installment in one of the latter's most popular franchises.

According to The Sun, the two actors met recently in Los Angeles where "Sly begged Mickey to sign for Rambo V. Mickey said he was up for it."

The paper claims Rourke would play the villain in the film, which they add would shoot later this year.

Stallone recently confirmed that there will be a Rambo 5, but "the conflict is whether to do it in America or a foreign country."

Wherever it is filmed, wherever it is set you can bet John Rambo will end up behind the biggest, most destructive gun he can find.

Im actually looking forward to this, I enjoyed the forth instalment which did exactly what it said on the tin and looked really good.

Rambo takes on religious loonies? That sounds bloody!!

Nu Image/Millennium Films has greenlit the franchise's fifth installment, with Sylvester Stallone starring and directing, repeating his duties from 2008's "Rambo."

The upcoming project's storyline revolves around Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border.

The film will be produced by Avi Lerner, Kevin King Templeton and John Thompson. Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson will exec produce.

Stallone had indicated in interviews that a fifth Rambo was in the works. He teamed with Nu Image/Millennium on the 2008 project, which grossed $42 million domestically and $113 million overseas.

Nu Image/Millennium is in post-production on "Expendables," starring Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke. The actioner's set for release on April 23 through Lionsgate.

Rambo first appeared in the 1982 pic "First Blood," followed in 1985 by "First Blood II" and in 1988 by "Rambo III."
