It moved too fast. no tension buildup and too many flashbacks. like you mentioned, it just seemed like it's soul purpose was to pave a path to continue the series.

I see where you're coming from, although the majority of "flashbacks" weren't. I think it actually worked better during the second viewing but I doubt another showing would convert those who already were unimpressed.

Personally i do not think the saw movies are all that great. Sure they have some really cool elements and genius contraptions, but the story are kind of thin in all of them. But it all comes down to a matter of movie taste.

To me, it was really contrived. I feel like they stopped trying and their heart wasn't really in it. Flashbacks can be a good plot developer but when the sholw movie is told in flashbacks it feels like a cop out.
