Upstairs Karaw was woken by the screams . It was her mother . Frozen by indecision, Karaw waited a whole minute before getting out of bed . She reasoned it thus :

2 : Whatever was making her scream was obviously too big . If her mother couldn't deal with it , how could a girl half her size ?
