I thought that was funny:D Nicely played, Crabapple.

no one would want a #1 in a series be referred to as a Phantom Menace

How do you want me to back it up? It's an amazing film (imo) that laughs at itself, has true fear, can actually be scary, good acting (it's better than halloween's acting at least), good story( a lot more than halloween's), it has nice plot twists, great kills, creative phone calls, surprising jump scares, suspense, comedy, blood and gore, antagonist's that are at least somewhat realistic in the fact that they die EVENTUALLY, unlike the dumbass nebula or whatever keeping michael alive, good soundtrack(I'm sorry, but as frightening and perfect as Halloween's ost is, I like the Scream music better), lot's of cameos from really well known people, extremely interesting characters, and great setting and locations, especially Sidney's house. It also has a brutal finale, and is actually scary if you look at it from the right perspective. The Killer(s) are completely deranged, the way they do their work is freaky and psychotic, and... I love the last reel with the surprise jump out... Is that enough back up? Hope so.

do horror movies have to be either old or exceptional to have any soul? a lot of new movies tick most of the boxes but still are a great steaming pile of shite. although i know an example is totally surplus, how about Hostel

Wow, it's like people think their choice is in direct correlation to penis size or something. Being a woman, I really don't care :P I voted Halloween and, honestly, to me these two films are in such different classes that it's like putting up....Animal House against Earnest Goes to Camp. Just my opinion. Scream was cute and fun, but a classic....I don't know. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, I just don't see them as being in the same genre. Like Shaun of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead.

if you had to label the two opposing classes you'd put them into, what would they be? i think they are in the same category, although i take your point about screams comedic qualities. still, i would call them 'crazy man/men on stalking slashing spree' movies

It's a moderate film.

Quote:

can actually be scary,
Halloween is scarier.

Quote:

good acting (it's better than halloween's acting at least),
No, it's not.

Quote:

good story( a lot more than halloween's),
Uh, nope.

Quote:

it has nice plot twists,
That I'll give you.

Quote:

great kills,
Halloween's were better.

Quote:

creative phone calls,
Black Christmas's were better.

Quote:

surprising jump scares,
Didn't jump once. At least, in Halloween, the film was creepy.

Quote:

suspense,
You mean, like, when the chick goes up the garage door? Yeah, I was boiling with anticipation.

Quote:

comedy,
"Never say, 'I'll be right back.'"

"I'll be right baaaaaaaacckkk!" *cue dumb face*

Quote:

blood and gore,
Typical.

Quote:

antagonist's that are at least somewhat realistic in the fact that they die EVENTUALLY,
Took them long enough.

Quote:

unlike the dumbass nebula or whatever keeping michael alive,
What the fuck are you talking about? If you're referring to THORN, I'll inform you that the inane storyline didn't come in until part 6. We're talking about the original's here... keep the conversation on topic.

Quote:

good soundtrack(I'm sorry, but as frightening and perfect as Halloween's ost is, I like the Scream music better),
Doesn't even compare.

Quote:

lot's of cameos from really well known people,
Whopee-shit.

Quote:

extremely interesting characters,
That's not even funny. I didn't give a shit about Sydney... Sorry you did.

Quote:

and great setting and locations,
Haddonfield kicks Scream's ass.

Quote:

especially Sidney's house.
Myers house was better.

Quote:

It also has a brutal finale,
Versus Halloween's very atmospheric, chilling, and enigmatic ending.

Quote:

and is actually scary if you look at it from the right perspective.
What perspective?

Quote:

The Killer(s) are completely deranged,
]

Myers is more deranged.

Quote:

the way they do their work is freaky and psychotic,
As does Myers.

Quote:

and... I love the last reel with the surprise jump out...
And I love Halloween's montage ending.

Quote:

Is that enough back up? Hope so.
No.

I voted for Halloween because that's the movie I PREFER. I guess people aren't allowed to have an opinion anymore. Go ahead... just ask me to back up my choice...

I guess people aren't allowed to negate opinions anymore.

You're right, it was too much of me to ask for someone to back up their choice.
