Your money is probably helping them buy the hookers, drugs, and other things that will eventually end up killing them before their time.

I typically ignore all the directors/actors and their crimes, immoral behaviors, political beliefs, etc...

I love Mel Gibson's movies but think he is genuinely fucked in the head with his fanatical religous beliefs and his hatred of the Jews. But I love his movies, so I watch them anyway.

I've been known to totally avoid certain films because of something like this. And on the flipside, if a movie is made by someone I think is cool, I'll go out of my way to advocate it.

That would go over like a fart in church, dude. Both have (different) wacko religious beliefs, and both have tempers. I could see this making tabloid headlines worlwide. :D

Some of the greatest art comes from assholes. Picasso was a horrible person. I have no difficulty whatsoever separating the art from the artist.

If you hate a film because you think the director/writer/producer/actor involved is a scumbag does that mean you'd like a movie because the one who made it was a really swell guy? No, you judge the art on its merits.

The creation of art in any medium is an act of arrogance. It is an expression of one's belief that what they have to say is valid and deserves to be seen/heard. It takes a steadfast assertion that "I am right, I am justified in thinking and acting the way I do" in order to see a work to completion. So it comes as no surprise to me when this same type of person follows one of their darker impulses with the same conviction of "I am right, I am justified in thinking and acting the way I do."

It is miraculous to me that so many people who pursue their passion to create are still fine and decent people. The percentage of true mutherfuckers in art and entertainment is relatively small.

Oh, I love avoiding things created by real jerks, though! It makes me happy.

But then YOU miss out on some good things...That's not quite fair, is it?...Why should you punish yourself for something someone else has done?...What of the things you DO enjoy, what if you aren't aware of the scum that's behind it?...Ignorance is bliss?...Did you like Jeepers Creepers or Rosemary's Baby? ;)

No, actually, I wasn't really that serious. There's a lot of good movies made by farging bastidges, and I watch those too ;)
