For general writing advice, I've never seen anything tha can hold a candle to Stephen King's ON WRITING. The first half is an autobiography of his writing life and the second half is a style manual. Really fantastic, practical advice in that one.

but im going more for gore and gothic scaryness then anything else

of course you've read Anne Rice's sexually charged Sleeping Beauty tales, right?

LadyFrost 01-04-2007 03:54 PM

not as yet but ive been told that i MUST read them...which i plan to do i've just got to get myself fueled up as i dont really like Anne Rice's writing style im not sure why i just get very bored quickly....well not bored i just find she goes too indepth to keep me interested in the tale...but thats just me...but i plan on reading it

Check out Snow, Blood, Apples by Neil Gaiman. Its a really, really cool short story that twists Snow White.

I wrote a staory like this myself, not long ago....think I might have posted it here, actually. I'll see if I can dig it up for you to read:)
