It's a phillips karaoke MIC that I got from walmart. It had nothing that should be installed. I would have thought it worked like my old MIC and computer.

go to the little speaker icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Double click it. In the software mixer that comes up, click on options. Then click on properties. Then select recording. Make sure microphone has an x in the box. Then in the recording controls, make sure microphone is selected. Make sure volume is set at a good level.

All this may be moot if you have the wrong type of mic- I'm not sure that 3 1/2" jack will work- even though you can get it to go into the soundcard jack, it might not work. You may need to go to Radio Shack and get a 3 1/2 to mini adaptor.

I agree but who knows, did it say compatible with pcs?

Hmmm...Ok, well, I got the MIC to work with Neverendings instructions. Now I have another problem. It's showing something recording, and it shows the sound waves, yet I am unable to hear myself in the recorded version.

turn up your volume.:)

VampiricClown 01-02-2007 06:10 PM

I did. I have headphones on.

Does it have a meter when you're recording, to show how loud you're recording? Is it pretty low? Can you get it to go into the red when you shout? You might be plugged into the line-in or speaker jack by mistake- or even aux. Mic should be a red or pink jack. Try turning up the volume as suggested- in cooledit, in the windows mixer as well.

For some reason, I just tried it again, and it's playing perfectly. -Shrugs- Weird.
