Maybe by the time the third one came out, I'd stopped comparing the series to the first, still my favourite of the lot, by far. I thought maybe the second one was a bit too over the top. The snow chases, the trail of fire to the plane, explosions explosions explosions....That and the badguys weren't really that memorable to me. I can remember Hans and Simon clear as day, yet struggle to even think about those in the second film...that and I always thought it had terminator syndrome, like...the second one was fine and all, but just felt like it tried to simply out-do thr first film, which was pretty much the same deal in a different location. More hostages, more kills, more explosions...etc. True, the third one was over the top as well, but I liked the plot/subplot a little better, at least a little more original (from the first) and Jeremy Irons was great, Jackson was a little more funny and useful than "fat cop on the radio" and McClanes burnt-out bit worked a treat. I mean it wasn't so bad IMO that I'd never want to see it again, but definately my least favourite of the bunch, but yknow whatever, not here to try and convert anybody. |
Looks good...but then looks can deceive.
I love Die Hard, def one in my all time fav action movies list. Die Harder was ok, good and nice script backed by some solid direction and performances. The third was average IMO. Except plenty of explosions and chases all around, there wasnt much to follow. Willis himself didnt like #3 and the way McClane shaped out in the end. Hopefully the fourth will iron out the shortcomings of #3, and bring back the McClane of the original and the sequel. But then, it will be tough to compare it with the original. The best it can do will be to better Die Harder, because no way can it be better than Die Hard. |
I enjoyed them all and look forward to the next one. You just can't beat Bruce Willis in an action movie.

my friend works at Fox in the legal department and he told me that he saw an acting contract for Kevin Smith in the Live Free of Die Hard file.
That's really going to take me out of the film. I like Smith and fing him quite funny, but he's such a "personality" that I don't think this will work well. |

[QUOTE=Phalanx;525607]What can I say? I just didn't like it...
QUOTE] You didn't have to defind yourself, thats just the way I talk. I agree that the Die Hard movies were over the top with the sequals. But I believe that is one of the reasons we go to the movies, to step out of reality. I mean why would you pay money to watch something real when you could watch reality on the news or live reality in your own life. Its like those chick flicks, why watch the girl drama on screen when you could live it. I say stuff like this to the people who critize horror/sci-fi movies mainly b/c they think that these movies are stupied and too far out of reality. But if their so stupied then why are big budget sci-fi movies the ones that mainly do well overall at the box office? Cough Star Wars cough, Spider-Man, cough, Pirates of the Carrabian, cough. |
