i keep my vhs......as long as you got them and a vhs player then you can still watch them, a dumb ass friend of mine (the one who says lol....ass) throws them away and replaces them, why the frak? will he replace all his dvd's with he next thing? tis a waste of money and good vhs's.....not everthing is put on dvd.

Most of my vhs tapes are stuff I recorded off the air of obscure shows that stand little chance of getting released on dvd, so there's no way I can get rid of them.

the_real_linda 11-07-2006 08:11 AM

yeah i have a lot of stuff that isnt released...itsnt it strange the things we keep?

having colected tapes for longer than most of you have been born (no one even mentioned Beta:eek: ) I can say that the tapes wont last forever.
I've always kept mine in ideal conditions (rewound, out of the light, cool and dry) but still the older ones are beginning to deteriorate .. especially at either end of the spool.

I'm going to archive the rare ones onto DVD

I have the original uncut "The Burning" on VHS. (Thorn-EMI, Label) which is worth quite a lot. It's now 25 years old and still in perfect working order.

@Urgeok
You are the only person I know who has any beta(max) tapes. I didn't know there where still players for them.

I'm a DVD snob. Sure you can get VHS cheap.....because its a dying format.....and rightly so.

the_real_linda 11-07-2006 08:21 AM

i dont buy vhs any more....i buy dvds now, just dont see why people get rid of them

GetrDone 11-07-2006 08:42 AM

I got rid of all on my vhs except the few that are not/maybe never on dvd. I buy dvd only unless its a vhs that I feel won't be on dvd for a long time.
