probably because he has no desire in directing a remake of the sequel to the hills have eyes and would rather focus on other projects.

He's an amazing writer and director, and once he learns how to write an ending... lol :D I pretty much look forward to all his movies now though.

Ruby could still be alive. she wouldnt be the first movie character to survive a huge plummet like that.
