When Elvis said 'shit', he still meant 'good', and those others you had mentioned are just about as popular.

Romero's movies are not Italian, apart from some finance for Dawn of the Dead.

Knock knock!

:D
ahh...oopsie me then lol :D

Cannibal Apocalypse is a dope flick I really dug it. Two Evil Eyes was pretty cool also (assuming you meant the Argento/Romero movie). I loved City Of The Living Dead. Have to keep an eye out for the others over here but I doubt I'm gonna run into them anytime soon.

@ filmmaker2: I bet a lot of people got burnt with Return Of The Living Dead 2 and replaced their VHS with DVD. A lot of those older flicks the definative version is on VHS.

ROTLD2 had an okay 'half-zombie' bit, but was ruined by the desperately bland direction of Ken Wiederhorn and an unappealling cast.

Thank the lord for the barnstorming next instalment, then cry over the last two.

Well, you know there's no accounting for taste. The third one didn't do anything for me, although most people seem to like it a lot.

yep. The DVD extras say the gurl actually put a sheep's intestines in her mouth to show that. YUCK!

And @ FM & Elvis...I absolutely agree 100% with you 2. The implanted new music score in the DVD version is a total let-down for those who bought it (I am one of those). Moments like these make me feel that for the movies, the VHS system shoulda stayed. Even Director's Cut versions which usually contain extra footage, usually miss out on some other critical aspects of movies. Ah...my good ole VCR! nostalgic moment...

RotLD 2 was an ok movie. IMO, pt 3 was slightly better than 2, with better direction, plot and acting. Cheesiness, its almost same in all 3 of em, although the original def takes the cake.

yeah...yeah...yeah...and since we're on the subject of audio tracks (and I know this is going to show how much of a geek I am), I thought I should mention that a couple of Terry Alexander's lines on the "Day of the Dead" DVD (the Anchor Bay one, with Bub on the cover etc.) are different...they sound like they were the original production audio instead of the looped version...it's different from previous versions of the film. Now I'm not being overly critical because actually I love the DVD of that movie; it is really awesome....but those two lines were sort of memorable the way they looped them, and it's a shame they're not in that version.

so i should keep my beta copy ?

filmmaker2 06-12-2006 09:18 AM

Yes, keep the Beta! (I remember Beta!)

For geeks who want to compare versions, the first line is "You can hear it over de engine!"

The second line originally was "Shit! I could do that even if all this wasn't goin' on" and on the DVD he says "Right!" instead of "Shit!"

NEW ADDED NOTES: I sat down and watched the DVD last night and really listened to the audio, and in fact there are MANY instances of the dialogue track being different from that on previous video releases--for several characters. Most of it is small--a little line here, a line there.

it should be mentioned that collecting italian zombie movies is a bit of a challenge and worth a lot of research so you dont get burned.

so many of them have been released with alternative names with various degrees of deleted scenes it makes it tough to get the definitive editions and avoid duplication.

even the directors names will change.

i suggest that pressure and zwoti be consulted before every purchase cause they are up on that stuff.

(see filmmaker for all your domestic film questions :D)
