It's very real...A birth defect....You can google for 'anancephalic baby' for more examples...This is far from the only one...And the degree of the deformities varies quite a bit...

Never heard of that one. Poor little guy. Hopefully he died peacefully, after only a half an hour in this fucked up world. Hmmmm, maybe we're the poor little guys and girls.

You can check out Snopes for a few more pictures of other cases and an article about the deformity, too.

That is sad...I feel kinda bad though, because when I first looked at that picture I thought it was photoshopped. It doesn't even look real...ehh. Poor kid.

That is really really awful. I can't imagine a parent having to go through that. I wonder if they can detect that in an ultrasound... possibly and in-utero ultrasound. That's really sad. I hate it when terrible things like that happen to babies.

Yasashii 04-19-2006 02:59 PM

^ Yeah, they can detect it in ultrasound, I don't know if the country had that technology or not, but when I didn't know what it was and was browsing it, there was a site dedicated to a baby who died from that, and the mother mentioned about the ultrasound reading from awhile ago and always checking hoping the ultrasound wasn't right. And on google there are some images from an ultrasound.
