Sure, there were bands then and now that were much better, but Nirvana became popular, and served to break open the underground rock scene of the time. For that, they deserve some credit.

they were extremely influential ..
i have mixed feelings about that though ...

they were my favorite band about 15 years ago. I don't listen to em much these days, but back then Incesticide was my favorite, followed by Bleach. Incesticide had Hairspray Queen on it, which I thought was really cool. and Bleach was so heavy, I liked that shit. it reminded me of the Melvins.

^^ Fuck yeh Hairspray Queen is a amazing song probably my favorite Nirvana tune.

Incesticide all the way..... probably the coolest collection of b-sides ever. I liked how a bunch of those tunes had a Flipper thing going on. Its the only album of theirs I still listen to. Another band in my thrashed to much pile.

as for Nirvana being overated? Whatfuckingever I'd like to see some of you pick up a guitar and try and even get close to what they did.

I bet most of the people who call them overrated can't even play a musical instrument.

Well, I didn't say that.. but agree with it... and I can play several instruments. BTW I don't mean any offense to fans of the band. I was and still am more of a Soundgarden fan.

This is a nearly impossible choice. The only easy one to rule out is Wishkah. The other ones are all awesome.

Their Unplugged performance was the best ever on that show, period. (Followed by Pearl Jam, but after that no one else was even close.)

Bleach and Incesticide both have a really raw feel to them, which I like. Nevermind is the one that started the 90's grunge rock explosion so that's a credible album too, but my favorite would have to be In Utero, based solely on lyrical content.

To those that dislike Nrivana or have knocked them in this thread...

Obviously, none of you can deny their influence. Whoever said they sound like everything else in the 90s needs to do some research because once Nirvana blew up, everyone and their mother started trying to sound like them, not the other way around. Musically... Sure there are far more musically talented musicians out there, but I'd be hard pressed to think of a better songwriter than Kurdt Cobain. And if I could think of some, it wouldn't be very many. Cobain is one of the best lyricists EVER. Period.

its not other musicians who determine if musicians are worth supporting or not..

So you have to be able to play better than they did in order to criticize their music? By that logic, since most of us can't make our own movies, this site has no reason to exist. After all, we can't make a better film, so we have no right to criticize, am I right?

I made a statement in haste...lets not blow it out of proportion.
I said what I said because I am a Nirvana fan and only started this poll because I was curious to see what other Nirvana fans would choose as their favorite Nirvana album.
I didn't start the poll to see if people liked the band or not or to debate on whether they are or aren't overrated.
All I asked in the poll was "What's Your favorite Nirvana album"
simply pick an album and perhaps state why that one is Your favorite.
Sure everyone has an opinion and a right to be a critic but all I asked was "What's Your favorite Nirvana album":)
