Chappelle has jokes more about how different each race is. The good & bad. He doesn't referr to arabs as"Achmed"...

This just happen to me, a half an hour ago:

I emailed, Adam Carolla's new show "Too Late". Last night because I heard Carlos Menica was going to be on it, and I wanted to ask him a question.

The producers called me this morning, asking me if I wanted to ask Carlos the question. I was like "Hell yeah". My question was "Could you be funny with out racist stereotypes". I couldn't believe they were going to let me ask him that.

I waited for a fucking half an hour... listening to the whole show on the phone. Then the producer got on and said "Sorry we run out of time... we'll call you later"

Now we'll never know if he could be funny with out racism... fuck..

You've pretty much made my comments for me...

Mencia and Chappelle consistently base their routines on stereotypes....It's okay to throw some of that out there from time to time, but when that's ALL you've got, it becomes redundant, monotonous, unoriginal and boring....

Mitch Hedberg was all over the place...That's one of the reasons that he was so good...And of course his delivery was awesome, too

Difference between Chappelle and Mencia
Mencia: His jokes ARE racial stereotypes.
"Mexicans run across the border! Arabs say LALALALA a lot! Dee dee dee, BEANER!" *laughter* Repeat for 22 minutes, repeat 12-20 times per season. He was funny ONCE, in one of his half hour standup things
Chappelle: Jokes ABOUT, and makes fun of stereotypes. And actually does a bunch of non-racial jokes (Sam Jackson beer, Making the Band, et cetera)

The best example of the difference between the two, besides one is funny and one isn't, is a sketch Chappelle did in season two, entitled White People Dancing. The setup was that the "white people can't dance" stereotype is false, and that white people just like certain types of music and musical instruments. Then went around with John Mayer illustrating this point. This was funny.
Had Mencia done the sketch, the whole thing would consist of white people dancing badly (some gangly white guy named Brad doing a cabbage patch or something) and that would be it.
There's a big difference between making fun of stereotypes, and spouting off stereotypes and pretending it's funny.
